BREAKING: 2 passengers of the Diamond Princess cruise ship have died of coronavirus - NHK

Everything about that cruise ship is bad news. Infections across all races (putting a dent in the "only Asians" need be concerned), high infection rate, asymptomatic cases, high % of critical cases, and now deaths.

I know cruise ships are a special case because of high population density, common eating areas, common circulation, etc., but I don't remember any kind of infection being contracted by 600 plus people on a single ship, or two deaths.

I’m guessing the goalposts for slackster and denial crew will be moved from “let’s see what happens outside of China” to “well its only killing old people outside of China”

This is not looking good

Do we have any info on victims? Japan healthcare system is top notch. And Japanese usually in good health, with avg lifespan around mid 80s.

It would be much appreciated if somebody such as yourself who has taken more of a deep dive on this, would update those of us who have not paid as close of attention. What are some of the latest salient points?

Aww getting a little wet between the legs?... people are dying. Congrats, glad you can go to sleep with a smile on your face tonight.

And I haven’t moved the goal posts. Still elderly and more likely to succumb to things like the common flu. Same thing I have said from day 1. When this thing begins to kill off individuals in 1st world countries that are in good health, then its time to worry. Until then, this is an issue for mainland China, those with pre existing conditions, and the elderly.

They don’t deserve to die by any means, but it’s not the doom and gloom that you are hoping for at this point. But keep willing it to fruition

Therefore, China's quarantine is a complete and utter medical disaster. It's also a sign of the Chinese government's callous disregard for basic human dignity. The misery that's been caused by their lack of compassion and obsessive desire for power is unimaginable right now.

LeBron James would prefer that you delete this. You don’t know what’s in the Chinese government’s heart.

Huge propaganda email this morning

quote:

Dear MrLarson

We'd like to share with you the latest situation of coronavirus in China, started in wuhan, hubei pronvince, and spreaded during our new year holidays.

Our gov. is taking great effort to fight against the sudden outbreak of a novel virus, thousands of army, doctors, engineers and construction workers went to wuhan for support, you could see our great leadership and strong cohesion of Chinese nation. Though we are with the largest population over 1.4 billion, only 45 infections were counted yesterday, making the 16th straight day with a decline in daily growth outside hubei, and the discharged patients are over 16,194 until today. It is parent and public to everybody.

WHO announce that it is safe to receive package or letters from China because coronavirus does not survive long on letters or packages. Our ocean ship takes over 35 days, never be a problem for safety.

We noticed that US politics speak in a totally different way here and there, but fact is fact, never changed by a lier. The epidemic is controllable, we are all confident that it will pass soon.

Nothing I’ve ever said would indicate that I’m happy about this. Quite the opposite actually.

Keep ignoring reality. You have an excuse for everything

Young doctor dies in China... well he’s Chinese
Old non-Chinese dies in 1st world country... well he’s old

Your threshold for caring is when a young US citizen dies? So exactly your demographic? Until then it’s a big nothing burger. How incredibly selfish of you

Any details on the death?

ETA:

South Korea's first death from coronavirus is a man in his 60s who was hospitalized for schizophrenia for 20 years

I’m not sure schizophrenia really puts you are any greater mortality risk
