Years ago, I worked around a lot of Saudis. In their culture they put a lot of emphasis on their honor and the honor of their family name. Today, in our culture, we allow people to shite all over our family name, our mother's reputation, and anything else that social media sees as fair game. So it's almost impossible for us to understand this being his motivation. But I promise you they take it very seriously. Google "Princess Mashaal bint Fahd al Saud." She was the 19 year daughter of a member of the Royal house of Saud. Her own father ordered her execution over an adulterous affair she was having. He believed that no one was above the law and that ending her life was the only way to fix the wrong and restore the honor of the family name.
I'm not defending what this guy did, just offering a possible explanation for his reaction. That and I'm pretty sure he has a loose screw or two.

Why? The King said that the Saudi people are greatly angered by the barbaric actions of the shooter, and that this person in no way shape or form represents the feelings of the Saudi people who love the American people.

I am still with the comedian I heard one time say that we should just pull a nuclear carrier group up right on the coast and then drill at an angle into their oil from offshore. Along with a big sign that says "Come out here and stop us." As he said in the bit, it isn't like they have a navy. We loan them ours all the time. Those dudes have some Boston Whalers with mounted machineguns.
