So the movie Office Space can now claim to be based on a true story?

I was bartender in the 90’s and told a financial guy that was a regular they we should just round to nearest nickel. He told me it wouldn’t work because of the big picture with the stock market. It would cost companies millions.

I’ve been against pennies for 30 years.

There is currently a bill trying to require stores to round up/down to the nearest nickel.

So a 3.96 transaction would become 3.95, and a 3.99 transaction would become 4.

If you round to the nearest nickel it would break about even, sometimes it helps the consumer sometimes it helps the business. It won't cost companies millions if you round up and down, it would cost them if they can only round down.

Penny Shortage
I just don't understand why people say there is a penny shortage.

I've got 4 five-gallon jugs full of pennies in my den...

Rouses Markets announced Thursday that it will begin phasing out pennies

Rouses should probably focus more on making sure their stores don't suck.
