Pelican Point going private...or are they?

Looking at the membership options, Im really considering joining. Basically $180/mth for full access(pool for the kids, etc). Add in the fact that there aren't many cheaper/more convenient options out there for someone in the AP, it's not as bad as I thought.
Doesn't mention the dreaded cart fee or cart plans though. That's my 1st Q
ETA: cart plan is $125/mth or $17/round. That shite doubles the freakin membership. So stupid. So u gonna charge me $180 to play golf, swim , hit on the range, play tennis, etc & dam near the same amount to drive a dam cart? I know it's standard stuff, but it annoys the hell out me
And here's the "or are they?" part... They offer an associate membership. $179 for the year gets you a round of golf and unlimited use of range, practice facilities & allows you the ability to "pay to play". If you like to just go to the range like I do, this is not a bad deal. So if you don't wanna pay a membership fee, but wanna still play there, you can.

Pretty good deal there if you like to play different places but live in the vicinity.

Buy your own cart and pay $17 per round.

If they didn't charge you a cart fee, the pro wouldn't get paid. Plus no club can afford to give everything for $180 without being a complete shithole

Exactly, I've heard of maybe 1 or 2 clubs offer an unlimited golf membership and the dues are substantially higher than $180 a month, that's actually not a bad rate if they keep the course in good shape.

Get you a push cart baw, and walk from October to April

Thib, you should get a social membership

I would jump on that if I didn't live so far away from the course.

All the 179 membership does is keep people that are in town for a weekend or passing through from playing PP
Not a bad strategy. Even the pay to play people will feel the slightest bit of ownership
Did they post the green fees?

The last few times I played PP, it seemed to be overbooked. It was backed up from No 1 and slow thru 18.
We noticed that they let a few members play as a fivesome. It made for a 4 1/2 hour round.
They would have to fix that for me to consider the pay-to-play membership.

I'm good. Didn't know you could get memberships to landfills doe

I know, I understand it. It's just that when u say "$189/mth", it's like "dam, I'll take that". Then U slap on another $125 "fee" and it's "oh". Tell me it's $250/mth & cart plan "only$65" and I'd be "oh hell yeah". Same numbers, just looks better, lol

Some golfers like to walk
They've figured out how much the carts cost to operate and maintain and charge that user base accordingly
It would be unattractive to walkers to include cart cost in all memberships

This is almost everywhere with play. People watching golf on TV and playing maddeningly slow now. The old frick you I payed and will play as slow as I want....golf in 2015.
I rotted behind a fivesome of old men putting out gimmes at SM last weekend. Spent at least 1.5 more hours in the sun than was necessary.

I'm slow as it is. If I walked, it's take me 6 hours, lol

Then they charge you a little bit less for a trail use fee.
It's the same at Greystone.... No benefit in owning your own cart .
