No doubt he was incredibly intelligent and before his time on a lot of ideas.
He was a kook that is very much worshipped beyond his level. Things like the death ray.
Someone will no doubt pop in this thread about wireless electricity though.

Crazy that Musk runs the Tesla off AC battery power.

Edison asked him to work on DC and he brought him AC. He didn't invent it, he went with improving a technology Edison didn't want.
Because Tesla was smart enough to know that AC was the way to go. Without him we wouldnt have the power grid we have today.

They’re incorrect on why AC is better than DC on the documentary though

That's absurd. He didn't create AC.
He made AC work in a practical way so as to be actually useful instead of a scientific curiosity.
That's what engineers do.

Your alternator generates AC that is rectified to DC.

Either you're trolling or are an idiot. Batteries can't store AC. And the Tesla wouldn't want to invert the DC anyway.

PBS' American Experience is one of the best shows on any medium.
I don't think I've ever seen a bad or boring episode, even if there's no way I think I'd be interested in the topic beforehand.

Edison was in it for money and greed. Tesla was a true science freak and wanted free electricity for everyone.

I’ve always been interested in anything regarding Tesla.
The sad thing is that today’s youth will think Tesla is just a car.

Absolutely.
I recently watched the American Experience that was about an explosion at a Titan II missile complex in Arkansas in 1980. It was really well done.
The episode about the battle of the Chosen Reservoir in Korea is also excellent.

Then why did he bitch about not getting paid?
I mean, unless it is made up years after his death. Not based on any fact, but on urban legends and published.

Not to get too off topic but that was a very fascinating episode. Search around on youtube; that's where I found it. I had no idea that they even had ICBM silos in Arkansas.

Nor did I. It just goes to show that when nuke war breaks out, there will be no where to hide.
