I mean, there' a difference in not having a license and having an expired license. And you can practice without a license as long as you have a supervising professional.

The article said he had association with it a few years ago, but the project had a different scope then.

Another perhaps deceased worker identified

Let's hope he was here legally... otherwise... this got a bit more complex.

Have been waiting for this storyline to start

Geez, what a slap on the wrist! The dude illegally practices as a PE and they make him pay a few thousand dollars and take some goofy (probably online) tests? And now shite is falling down onto Rampart Street? What a shocking outcome that must be to people!

I do think the Zehner story is almost certainly sensationalism and a red herring.
My comment was more about the generally lax attitude the people in charge seem to have in LA. Once you're in the professional club, the other members will circle the wagons with a fierceness you seldom see in their legitimate endeavors.
Another example is that Bill McGee shyster up in oh-so-safe St. Tammany who got a slap on the wrist for brazenly stealing houses under color of law. Damn near kept his law license, if memory serves. May have.

Actually LAPELS( LA engineering and surveying board) is extremely strict and harsh in 99% of cases.

This makes my skin crawl.
Fortunately, I'm not a hardware guy, and our data center and network teams don't do things like this.
But I do have to deal with the software equivalent sometimes.

NOFP just said the cranes will absolutely collapse and there is nothing they can do to stop them from falling.
One of the cranes that they’re worried about falling, moved an inch in a direction that was not expected. Engineers are closely monitoring it. Each crane weighs 40 tons and 400 feet they believe it will hit the Saenger Threatre.

This is stupid. Are they telling us there is no way to hook another mobile crane to it and take it down without collapsing? We have to just wait until they fall down? Seems legit.

Where did you hear this?
I haven't heard that any crane collapse is imminent.
I have heard that they are concerned about, after the front comes through, the winds turning around and coming from the south. If the southerly wind pushes the disabled crane in a northbound fall pattern, that's right on top of the Saenger.

Press Conference just a few minutes ago. The crane shifted and inch and then moved backwards. They don’t have any answers but are still exploring options.

Answer to this is YES they can’t move the cranes due to damage they suffered which is why they sent the mobile cranes back home yesterday.

These things are pretty tall and erected one section vertically at a time using a climbing frame.
There may be a crane big enough to make a 400 foot pick but good luck finding the room to set that up.
