Any suggestions?

I bought a special socket for GM oil pressure sensors. Combined with a 90-degree hook pick it's a two minute job for me.

I used my hand and got it off to change out the switch (Yay!), but accidentally broke a tab off that connector (boo!).

Now it won't stay connected, so I bought a new connector, but the location is so cramped there's no possible way to work on splicing it in.
I'd rather just run a new set of wires to the computer.

Any ideas on rewiring it?

To the OP: try not to break that connector!

"Ease of access for maintenance" is not much of a factor to the makers of cars.

Headlight bulb replacement can be a pain in the arse.

True. Got a Honda minivan where one side has easy access, but the other side requires pulling off the belt and reaching up from the bottom (with the van on a lift or ramps). And, it’s still tight.

Had my Tundra’s radio antenna snap off. Figured it would be an easy fix, but I couldn’t get the base of the mast unscrewed. So, I figured I’d just replace the whole unit. Maybe $25 tops on Rock Auto. Step 1 on YouTube was to remove the wheel and fender. I said F it, and just listen via Bluetooth.

I would yank the Johnson Rod first. Careful not to jerk it too hard as it's sensitive. Good luck.

If you have the replacement switch, practice on it.

Break the top (just below the plastic) off the old switch with a chisel, then disconnect the connector.

Pick set like this one. Use one of the angled picks to slide between and just twist it to brace the back of the pick on the plastic and force the point of the pick into the tab to depress it. Pull connector with other hand.

I had a pick set.

The issue is the switch/sensor location. Due to the final position (original install) it was impossible to get anything to depress the 2nd tab without inadvertently pushing the white tab back down.

I managed to accidentally break off the white tab which allowed me access to remove it.

Diagram location. You have a 3-4” gap between the engine and firewall to contort your hand around to touch it. I just had bad luck on final resting spot of the two things I had to slide/depress to remove the plug.
