Part change: Oil Pressure Switch

Behind the top of the engine between it and the firewall.
The white tab has to be pulled up, which it is, but you then have to press a plastic piece to release the connecting plug.
Of course, it’s between the switch and the engine and it’s nearly impossible to get something back there to press the plastic piece to release it.
Any suggestions?

Make and model of car would help.

Most repairs can be found on youtube.

True, but they don’t detail an issue like this.

Push in the release with a long flat head screwdriver, while you pull up on the connector with the other hand. It’s awkward, but doable. Done it many times.

Unscrew the sensor, then you'll be able to unclip the plug easily

The issue is you have to contort your hand to get to the switch itself and I cannot think of something I can hold to get back there to do the last step.

Also impossible to do in the location.

I’ve done it twice on my Silverado. It’s a pain in the arse.
Try squeezing it together while pushing down. You should hear a little click sound when squeezing it. It’ll release then.

I accidentally pried off the white tab which gave me easy access to depress the 2nd release and remove the plug.

Find someone with small hands.
Or use a screwdriver.
ETA, i used to have one of those little paint mixing trowels that was pretty thin and pliable. It worked well for these.

small screw drivers and a set of picks usually will do the trick...some of those damned plugged connections are harder to disconnect than pulling an engine....and of course the risk of breaking the damned thing and the damned vehicle never being right again is always there....

Yes, it is awkward….but doable as I described

Loosen the sensor to try and get a better angle in the harness. Push down on harness, release tab, pull plug up

This is the correct answer.
But to OP, you probably need to pull the tab higher. They typically go higher than you expect.
