I agree with this.

Had a group of 9 sophomore mostly football players over last night. Had a lot of food and stuff to keep them busy. Pool table, swimming pool with pool
volleyball, tons to eat etc. Was slightly concerned about them "bringing something in." Although not naiive, I don't think they did. Of course were rambunctious like boys but can't complain. Hopefully they can continue on for some more time without pushing too many buttons. My next door neighbor would hold 15 and over drinking parties at their house every week. I can't do that.

Yes, it would be much better if we all lived in a fairyland where kids would only do it while being supervised by their parents, but unfortunately, that isn't the case. All kids will rebel. It's just a matter of how far beyond your boundaries they'll have to go to get there.

Then again, it does really depend on the kid. I've known some real a-hole kids who would screw up no matter what the parents have done, and those that have their heads on straight no matter what the parents have done.

There needs to be clear boundaries between parent and child. You want to share a beer? We can do that when you're in college. 15-17...... no fricking way.

I allow my kid to drink some wine every once and a while.

She is 12 but I'm talking like a cup of it. I don't think there is anything wrong with letting them taste different types of wine. I'm again getting her drunk don't get me wrong. If I had a 16 yr old boy I would fix him a drink and let him watch the game. If you make it such a big deal then they will go out their way to lie about it and that's the worst.

I dont see a big deal. My parents let my friends and I drink at our house before we went out. Didnt really need to ask them to necessarily buy it for us because we all had fake ids.

They knew we were going to be drinking. May as well be at a house instead of the levee or somewhere else before we went to the bars

The main issue is getting arrested and sued. I don't mind teen drinking , but if some dip shite parent is going to call Morris Bart on me, eff that noise, no alcohol.

Yea, what I do with my kid is my own business. I won't allow another parents kid to drink at my house.

I started drinking when I was 17. Turned out OK. After the Lithettes went to college and turned 18 I let them drink at the house and our tailgate. Lithette #1 is a school teacher in Texas, #2 second year med student in NO and #3 is a Junior in Chem E with a 3.95 GPA.
I didn't want them to learn to drink at some frat swap.

buying them alcohol condones it.
I will not do this in any fashion. I don't even drink around the kids to set a better example.

My dad wouldn't buy alcohol for me, but if I wanted a beer or two from the fridge when I was that age, he rarely said no. Granted that was decades ago and maybe times have changed...

It's not like we were pounding shots or anything. But I had many a beer with my dad during my teens.

Kind of hypocritical. Anything else you do in the closet?
