Don't give then, so they don't play sports... turn to a life of crime and rob you

I look at it this way. If they are doing a raffle or car wash, etc.. then that is helping them be on a team and not out running the streets. Playing organized sports can be a positive influence for kids and may keep one less thug off the street. I help them anyway I can.
Right now I'm coaching an 10U fast pitch girls team. I've always coached boys teams so this is a new challenge. We, thank God, had someone sponsor the jerseys and parents paid the rest including $60 entry per person. And I do it as volunteer type.
I don't ask or expect a dime from anyone for getting to the games or having practices between games to get better. I just look at it as helping our youth start young and hopefully not fall victim to all the crime around us.

Local teams often have bake sales outside the grocery store.
I'll usually buy some cookies or brownies.

ear diary, get off my lawn, etc I'm not donating anything, I don't want a raffle, I'm not sponsoring them either. Pay for your kids if you decide to put them into sports. I bet a bunch on here beg others for money so your child can play tee-ball

The ones that set up outside of Walmart are the worst.

For some reason the teams out front of wal mart every Saturday bother me. That being said, I always walk over and give the coaches a copy of our fundraising program from work. They never contact me about it either.

Our club soccer team wants us to sell ducks for a race, strand outside Walmart, sell business discount cards, get sponsors for t shirts...all sorts of shite. I don't even read the emails.

If my children are going to participate in sports or any extracurricular activity it is my responsibility to pay for it. I do not expect anyone else to. I simply do not believe in begging for money for this.

I don't mind too much when it is the kids that are doing the work or selling items. Honestly, I can't stand it when the parents are just asking for donations or the kids are standing on a street corner with a coffee can and a sign.

Hopefully you at least brought back a shortstop and a slick fielding second baseman. Got to be strong up the middle.

those kids will be better off learning the game with rocks and sticks.

If you want to develop a good batting eye, practice hitting pitched bottle caps with a broom handle.

Once I went to a Winn Dixie where team was bagging groceries and bringing them out to your car for tips to raise money. I thought that was pretty cool.

At least they are providing a service or product. You can even write that off on your taxes I believe.

The kids should be asking for the money not parents.

I really can't think of a better way to donate money to a cause that will have an actual effect on making kids better people than supporting youth athletics.

When I was a kid playing sports, we always either sold stuff for fund raising or we did work. One summer my team all cut grass every Saturday for 6 weeks. I think we asked for $15 per yard (was in the 70's).

This begging for donations doesn't work for me.

So there has been some recent studies on this and most of the results show that people tend to give more to fundraising when there is no product or service in return.

That is very limited in terms of how many people it can affect. Sports can affect thousands for very little costs.

I had to pay for my daughter's dance lessons, dance recitals, dance workshops, dance uniforms, etc ....
I just tell them "no thanks."

Costs of travel ball and all-star teams should be paid by the parents. If you can't swing it, then it is a lesson to learn for the kid. Sometimes you have to say "No."

In the other hand, if the local Boys & Girls club has a fundraiser, for participation in local sports, I'll support them.
