I would say for most people yes, but if you have an extremely driven intelligent child I would not hold them back. Those who are elite need to realize their potential. A great surgeon doesn’t need to be a PA.

Definitely agree with that

You need to go read up on Elon’s surgical robots.

AI and robots will replace PAs, NPs, PRNs, RNs before MDs.
Right now, PAs and NPs are seeing people for MDs, that can be replaced by a Kiosk. Nursing shortages will be a thing of the past with 24/7 robotics.
Medical schools will pivot and new specialties and training will come out of this, but they will never be eliminated. Human surgeons have critical, instant decision making skills that robots are not capable of possessing. If we ever get to the point they do, no one will have a job. it will be Skylab time.

“Nursing shortages will be a thing of the past with 24/7 robotics”
Anyone says this has obviously never worked as a nurse.People have no idea of the myriad of issues nurses have to deal with, esp.in Crtical Care settings,be it Surgical,Medical,Cardiac or Neuro ICUs.I’d like to see a robot that could deal with a confused pt.trying to get out of bed, pulling out their IV and /or Art line,NG tube and/or urinary catheters.Significant numbers of pts
are confused,or right on the edge be it from their age, lack of uninterrupted sleep, pain meds, their specific disease or injury or a combination of all of the above. The nurse has to get the pt.under control, apply or reapply restraints, reinsert IVs,and any tubes that may have been pulled out. Then change the sheets and clean up

Just playing devil's advocate here...why do you need human to human skills when all your coworkers are robots?

hard to go wrong with a career in engineering or healthcare

Pts on a diet need help with their meal trays, some have to be fed.Blood sugars have to be checked, dressings have to be changed.
I could see robots being helpful for turning pts or pulling them up in bed.Pt weights have increased exponentially last 30 years. Before about 1995 300 lb pts were uncommon, started seeiing a few, from 2000 until 2010 the numbers of 300- 400 lb’ers exploded, even occasional 500 lb’er.
That is a factor in the nursing shortages,I saw a lot of smart nurses quit due to injuries or the fact they couldn’t physically handle it.

Maybe one day… won’t happen in your lifetime and likely not your children’s as well.

For now, Don't die, don't steal, try not to impregnate/get pregnant (i have a son and a daughter) finish school.
We will worry about the next step when we get there
You cant cross a four lane highway if you get runover in the first lane

My oldest just graduated from Mississippi State in forestry and has a great job. My youngest has two more years in forestry at Mississippi State.

I have. Let’s get the self driving transportation down before having robots make autonomous, split second decisions on an operating table.
Edited to add, I’ve already decided I’m getting an Optimus 3 Robot. If it can do half of what they say it will do, it’s worth it. Fkr better be able to make an Old Fashioned.

I’ve been in the HVAC industry for over 30 years including high school where I went to a vocational school my junior and senior years. I had my son come and work with me a couple of times and he learned quickly he doesn’t like to sweat. He is way smarter than me and is a junior in high school. He wants to be a child psychologist so college for him.

Not hating on either of the specialties but PAs don’t seem to be high earners. They earn a nice living but I don’t think many are making 200k. Which nowadays is the old 100k. Again, not hating just clarifying. NPs are closer to 140-160k
