I still think its stupid just like you though. These people are receiving SNAP, they got a stimulus check, possibly on unemployment, have free meals available all over town at school feeding sites, etc. And they're placing a lot of work in the hands of schools. Schools report their students' eligibility statuses to the state in October, using state software. This P-EBT application is going to be using that data to approve/deny families as they apply. So schools now have to go update that data right now while closed to be sure anyone who qualified after October will get approved.
Not only that, but they're allowing families that were full priced/didn't qualify to reapply for free/reduced meals through their school, in case they've lost income. This would be to get a prorated EBT of like $40 or something. If parents start trying to do this, that's a massive amount of work on the schools that are not even open right now.
I imagine most schools will not be accepted new meal applications right now though.

I have nothing against helping those who can't help themselves, but aid to healthy people should be tied to training and education.

Bc classes wouldn’t do anything. People buy junk bc people like junk. Everyone knows junk food is unhealthy. Limit SNAP to healthier staples or go back to issuing food directly to the recipients.

I tried to start a backpack program through my church to benefit the kids at an elementary school Closest to our church in EBR. We would provide backpacks with food for the kids’ weekends. It’s being done in many places throughout the country. Met with the Principal and she said these kids would be jumped on their way home if we did this each Friday.
EBT is needed, but when the parents are Crap, the kids suffer.

They’re already all getting the maximum because of the “pandemic” which is nuts. 2 kids get $509, 3 kids get $646, 4 kids get $768 a month! Now they get an extra $285 per kid.
They’ve already received $3,000-$7,000 cash back for EITC, $500 per kid stimulus, max food stamps, free Medicaid, now this. People who don’t even pay a penny of taxes.

Exactly. Nutrition classes isn't going to made healthy food affordable or create time people need to prepare and cook healthy meals. Not that nutrition classes aren't a benefit, but thing them to food assistance is just dumb. Those same people would freak out if gun safety was tied to gun ownership.
