I know that's not anywhere close to the F4's and F5's of the world, but holy shite that is hard to wrap your head around.

The video of it clearly shows it was a huge tornado. I was shocked to see it initially rated a 2. I figured an upgrade was coming.

To see the devastation in person is unreal, and I've been through tons of hurricanes.

When I saw this yesterday, I was terrified. My brother's practice is in Paincourtville. all is good with him though.

Damn near wiped that town off the map

The trailers they had are gone, they have several trucks flipped and concrete all over the place. Was a bit harder to see everything for them since when you pass on spur 70 they have the walls of concrete.

Tornadoes scare me a lot more than hurricanes. At least you can see hurricanes coming days in advance.

F5 tornado went through Delhi in '71. Killed almost 50 people I believe

ETA: killed that many around Delhi. Killed many more I believe in Mississippi

Yeah I live not too far from this and nothing happened at my house. Hell we lost power for a hour or two and that was the worst of it.

Maybe there is a structural engineer here that can explain a little about the force required to bring down a fricking water tower. I belive this particular water tower has withstood some pretty hefty hurricanes.

Do water towers have wind ratings? What would the diameter and wall thickness of the huge steel pipes holding it up? Depending on bracing and gussets, I would bet that ten thousand lbs. would barely give an eighth inch of deflection.
