cheap for the last 10 years. Gas was close to $4 multiple times since 2008.

$2.50 is really cheap IMHO.

Low compared to a few years ago, buy still not where I'd like them to be. $2 for premium seems reasonable IMHO

Plus, them raising the price has nothing to do with giving more baws jobs. I'd gladly pay $2.50 if there was more work

Not to worry the US surplus has risen as expected when oil prices rose enough for US shale plays to make a little money.

It was so bad the slight uptick in activity (short lived mind you) seems like another boom. The economics for a hint of a recovery in O&G are another year or more off. Thankfully I was able to negotiate reduced wages for my maid and nanny.

Permian basin is the only area that has significantly increased drilling in the past few months.

Week ending 3/3 rig count: 2016 158, 2017 308

LINK

Money isn't falling from the sky like 2014 but the overall expectations and attitude are very positive in the Permian.

Rebound? I swear, oil workers are like beggars. It's commodities, it's volatile. You make bank when it's good, jack shite when it's not. Don't expect everyone else to feel sorry for you when we're putting cheaper fuel in our tank and you could have saved a portion of that atypical income.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that O&G companies try to reduce the volatility to an absolute minimum. They do a horrible job of it though

It isn't just people who work in the O&G industry that get effected by problems with the market. Everyone in South LA and TX does either directly or indirectly

Well and on the same token, an area that would otherwise be without much has benefited greatly from the influx of industry O&G has offered. You take the good with the bad and plan for the slim times.

Not sure why you say this. In the late 60's and early 70's before Jimmy Carter's "energy crisis" you could by full service gas for < $.40 per gallon.

Louisiana has a dairy stabilization board. The floor pricing is fixed by the government.
