I have a gym membership as well for a few other things I like to do, but I like the "pop in the DVD, follow along" aspect of the workout programs. Not much thinking involved.

Sabi, trolling again, sorry. Seriously, do yáll do this because

a. you haven´t time to go to a gym
b. there´s no gym near you
c. this is preferable to a gym

I do it as a supplement to the gym, but a lot of people do it because:

a. it's structured and they need it, whether because they are novices or they don't want to spend time trying to find the right routine or whatever.

b. It comes with a basic diet plan, which is helpful for those, like me, who are just undisciplined.

c. t25 in particular takes far less time. For me, I get to exercise with my wife in the morning rather than run off to the gym and not talk to her except in the late evenings after work. I'll do 30 minutes of lifts in the afternoon 3 days a week to maintain some strength and size.

d. it's typically cheaper than a gym membership.

e. it has been shown to get results.

f. lack of having to travel to a gym means more time to work out and get other things done. It takes me about 10 minutes to get to my gym each way. In that 20 minutes I could have showered, shaved, brushed my teeth and pretty much gotten entirely ready for work. Plus, you have less of an excuse for not exercising. If you have to go to the gym, you can much more easily convince yourself to skip that day: It's 7 o'clock, the gym will be packed - frick it; it's raining outside, I don't want to get out in this mess - frick it; I just need five more minutes of sleep (by the time you get up, it's too late to go to the gym and make it to work on time) - frick it.

Plenty of reasons to do it.

as someone new to the workout at home thing I did it for a few reasons:

A. It's something completely new for me
B. It helps me focus on things that I otherwise wouldn't normally do because I couldn't do them or didn't want to attempt to do them.
C. I really dislike having to plan a routine at the gym
D. There are a shite-load of videos of people on youtube who have had amazing results, and seeing their results on a program available to me is motivating.
E. To save money...my YMCA membership for just me cost ~ $55 / month. (although I haven't canceled it yet, I intend to). For both my wife and I it was ~ $75/month. If she starts doing this too then it basically pays for itself in 2 months.

Jesus. I just upfront paid for my LA Fitness membership and it was something like $380 for the full year. The Y is freaking expensive.

I'm a member at the Y because it's close and they have a swimming pool so I can do laps.

Yeah it is expensive, but they also have an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, gym for basketball and sports leagues and all kinds of shite that I don't use

But at least they'll let me squat in the squat rack and do deadlifts if I want...unlike my previous gym that I did nothing but do cardio at, haha.

I like waking up and working out at home. I was at a gym for a few years. I do miss the heavy lifting, but I needed a break. I'm doing Beach Body DVDs to get fit, not strong.

I do see myself joining somewhere soon that has a pool. I really want to do an Ironman 70.3!

I mean, I hear you, and each gym is different, but the LA Fitness by me, aside from being LA Fitness and therefore evil incarnate, is pretty nice and close. It also has a lap pool and showers (though no towels ). The Y near me was much less expensive that $55 per month, and it was still more than LA Fitness. It must be very area dependent and/or the package Doldil has allows him certain perks (e.g. being able to use all YMCA facilities in the city) or something. I don't know. That just blew me away.

It is expensive compared to the other fitness centers, but the Y comes with a lot of other stuff that justifies the price (if you use it).

I wasn't aware that LA Fitness had a lap pool though.

Yeah I forgot about that...I can go to any YMCA in the Birmingham area. They also had a trainer for me to work with to setup an exercise routine when I joined up and gave me access to their fitness tracking site that will suggest a workout for you to do that the trainer can check and make adjustments to and shite like that. I've got a lot of use out of my Y membership, but I still don't take advantage of enough of it to really justify the price.

I´m also with LA Fitness. Not excited about it, but not completely disappointed.

The one near me is quite nice and well kept up (as is another in a different direction but about as close). Many are pretty shitty, however.

I run treadmill probably four times a week, will do an eliptic bike or variant, once or twice, do sprint work, fartlek running, once or twice a week.

I´ll lift weights probably four, maybe five, days a week as well.

I swim when feeling bored or burnt out (very rarely).

It´s now Africa hot, so I´d imagine I won´t be playing much tennis until the autumn.

I´m intrigued by how this thread has continued and grown, and yálls dedication and excitement, hence my dropping in.

I´m always looking for variants and/or new things.

failure - early this year i trained for my first 1/2 marathon and the ms150 at the same time. I basically took no days off for 60 days (run in the morning 4 days a week and ride in the morning 3 days a week). I got in incredible shape, but like you I was burned the f out. After the MS150 i took two weeks off and did absolutely nothing until i started this program a few weeks ago. You just need to take a break. You will see that after a few days your body will recover and you will want to wake up again and excercise.

Started doing T-25 this week, and the workouts have kicked my arse. I always start out doing whatever Shawn does, but I end up doing modified after about 5mins in. Not looking for physical results in a week, but should I start to see an increased ability to do the workouts starting next week?

Since I began week 3 today and next week is transition, I watched the incinerator routine to see what I am in for. Holy Crap that looks tough.

You can really see why the program works when you look at how it is laid out. Tough 1st block but designed to develop stronger muscles, increase strength, and get the entire body working and burning fat. I have lost some weight, but I really notice that I can complete the exercises with fewer breaks and better form. I don't see much of a difference in muscle size, but I am definitely stronger. This is all to get prepared for block 2, which looks to be designed to really build muscle and mass. I haven't completely reviewed block three, but I have a feeling it continues to build strength, but also finishes the body sculpting.
