Kristen works for a management company. They essentially run the day to day operations of an asset (think hotel).

Why "think hotel"? Why not call it what it is?

Hire who you want to hire. Ride your gut feeling. 90% of the time it is the right decision.

Ownership is usually disconnected to the day to day activity of thier underlings that you are more intune with. Make the right choice.

To follow up on this. One of my worst employees is the #2 in my companies personal fave. I have informed him of this multiple times. The only reason he likes him is because he was a personal hire of his. The dude is literally a moron, and a drama queen. I have to do his job for him half of the time.

I don't need the ones of Chaunda though.

Speaking of the restaurant industry, I went to B.K. this morning to get my girls breakfast. They requested a sausage biscuit.

"We oud'da biscuits." I change my order and select croissants. Pulled up to the window, "You ran out of biscuits?" "Yea, plus it would take 20 minutes to cook them."

Not in the cards right now. Her parents have told her she must be on her own. No more accepting handouts from them.

Both candidates should be interviewed in person before deciding what to do.

Then after interviewing both candidates, I'd have my team make an appraisal of which one is best.

I would pick the best candidate.

If I were Kristen, I’d be spooked to made the decision that management is steering me in.

There's a huge difference between "best" candidate and candidate that won't do. Does management not like the other candidate at all or just not as well The former is a situation in which you don't move forward and the latter is one in which you do another interview with the 2nd candidate to make sure its an appropriate fit.

First off, I'd never hire anyone randomly over the phone unless it was absolutely necessary.

Lastly, there's a 3rd option to keep interviewing until someone that makes both parties happy is found. Figure out what the ownership is looking for and find candidates that fit both ownership and management's needs.

Ownership, however, while saying "I'm not telling you who to hire" but throughout the conversation said, this is who I would hire and this is my preference wants to hire Meagan

I probably have a bit of an attitude problem, but their preference for Meagan, combined with their subtle hints about it, would make me want to hire Chaundra even more.

I'd make sure to let ownership know in advance that I'm hiring who I want, but do so in a way that shows that I factored in their input and that while I do respect that input, I'm ultimately responsible for the new hire so I chose candidate a/b
