Owner/Operator truckers can make $300,000 a year?

All the trucking threads made me Google it out of boredom. This company in Port Allen is boasting you can make $300,000 a year? What’s the catch to this? I know it says Gross, so I am assuming this is before you factor out all business costs, diesel, etc? Still seems solid.

I'm guessing you never have a day off and basically live in your truck full time to make that kind of money.

Could be gross before expenses. Like the truck and fuel.

Well, the notes and fuel on a tractor trailer have to be absolutely outrageous, so I imagine you could blow through that pretty quickly...

O&M is probably 225k of that.

The truck and fuel would significantly cut in to that 300k. I’m guessing insurance isn’t cheap either

CDL drivers are in great demand. The catch here is they are looking for the CDL’s that have been in business for years, not the fresh little snow flakes. They are headhunting badasses.

But you still get to tell everyone that you make 300k so does that even really matter?

And the insurance
And the breakdowns
And the tickets
And the breakdowns
And the rainy days

Truckers are in short supply and pay is going up, but people shouldn't even pretend pay is near that.

I have a good buddy that does over the road trucking. Owns his own rig. Yes, he makes bank and the best thing about this, he doesn't even need to work when his family owns a bank.
Like he told me, easy money is easy money. His trips are always day trips the last 10 years. He sets his own time when he wants to work.

Fish, you should go on the road with him for a day...see if he will let you say all of that trucker talk over the CB radio!

I know there is a high demand for truckers right now. They are paying good money. Probably not a bad gig for single guys. Open road, see the country and strip clubs at every stop.

I believe it, we have a couple drivers where I work that have probably hit that. But they probably have 50k a year in repairs and upkeep and that’s just routine stuff. I’ve seen guys pay 22k to rebuild their turbo

Sure, they can also lose money if their truck breaks down or the economy swings downward

Working every day sitting in a truck all day every day while almost always being away from your family. That figure is nice, but it ain't worth it.

Can’t forget the lot lizards, that’s the best part

I bought my cousin a truck, his wife an escort vehicle with permits when needed to get him off the ground, along with a few different trailers. I knew he knows what to do to make money. His father was a owner operator also. He has paid me back with interest which was a great investment for me.
$300k a year after all the expense is kind of stretching it unless you really into specialty hauling, in a high demand marker, or really experienced like uncle who retiring after 40 yrs in the business with a lot of over the road experience in snow, mountains, and had a clean record.
My cousin averaged $80k hauling hazmat chemicals for a larger hauler. He gave that up to hustle working with brokers and the last few years he made $150k after expenses. You have to know what you are doing and have a clean record.

That sounds pretty reasonable...
