That map is interesting, haven't seen the heavy line of snow that far to the northwest, most models have it further east.

I don't expect our parish to announce until closer to 3. You do it in the middle of the school day and the kids go nuts and then you lose another day of instruction, essentially.

doesn't matter. Same pussy admins that won't let kids play hangman or shoot a finger gun at their classmates will be losing their minds about the safety of "the children" and cancelling class.

Are you just willfully ignorant? All it takes is for one weather related school bus accident, and you've got 60+ lawsuits on your hands that will be settled at great expense to the school system.

Seriously tho, they will have to call it by late afternoon-early evening to give parents time to make arrangements.

Are you new to these parts? Notorious for waiting till the last minute in the morning to cancel thereby creating lots of problems for parents.

Just saw that they are monitoring the situation. So I feel confident they will monitor it right up until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow.

The school boards really can't win. If they call it now, they are acting too quickly. If they wait, they waited too long.

No just a feeling they will want to be proactive here and announce early. Its already going to be a cluster of epic failure. Hell, everything they do is. But calling school just before 6 am after buses have started running completely screws parents thus causing the meltdown of the century.

I don't think it's really that difficult. Make a judgment call the night before so people can make plans. Even 6 p.m. is better than when some kids have already gotten in the bus.

Let them say it's too early. I think it's absurd that they close for thunderstorms. We live in S LA. Thhat is to be expected. Possible snow and ice is a whole different story. As a whole, we don't generally know what to do in that because it's so rare here. My kids got on the bus last time, and I had to track them down. Just make some call tonight and stick with it.
