With today's eligibility expansion to include residents 16+ years of age, the number of residents who've received at least one dose should spike in the near future. Obviously we're going to reach a ceiling when you consider % of population who won't get the vaccine. What's that ceiling? 50-60 percent?

I'm curious to see what we look like by the beginning of June. If we're pushing 50% vaccinated, we can damn near close the book on covid, no?

This combined with this Natural Immunity should allow us to get back to normal. We don't need 100% vaccination rates.

1/4??? What the fcuk is wrong with people? The first ever RNA modifying vaccine produced 10 times faster than any other vaccine with zero animal trials. Simpletons are lining up like sheep to take it.

Y’all have fun with your rushed-to-market injections.

Vaccine works really well and most of the time protects you better and for longer than the anitbodies from actually having the virus. Meaning you are less likely to spread it if you get it.

Wish everyone would just get it.

I'm very pro "open everything up" and think stuff like closing schools was worse than the virus itself for our country, but the vaccine is legit and people should get it.

In my opinion, the number of people who have received the vaccine doesn't matter. What matters is that it's now available to everyone 16 and over. Those who want the vaccine have zero excuse for not getting it because it's now available and free. Open everything back up like it's 2019 and if people don't get the vaccine and get sick and die, then that's now on them - not the government. People can't be forced to get the shot and it's a personal decision everyone must make. As with everything in life, there are consequences to getting the shot and not getting the shot.

It’s never going to end. Accept it.

The goal posts will move wherever and whenever necessary so the authorities can maintain control.
Vacc rates, variants, spikes, infection rates...too many ways for them to keep people down.

This won’t end as long as we have democrats in control. At least in Louisiana. JBE is not relenting. Neither is Toya. Get used to it.

I don’t care about the short term impacts. I worry about the ones in 10-20 years.

Good.

I'll make an appointment when 99.9999999999% has been vaccinated then I'll be busy on my appointment day.

Yeah but how many of them have a vaccine passport card they take everywhere with them to prove it?

I worry about this too. There's no way to predict the long-term impacts of the shot right now so you just have to decide which carries more risk to you and your loved ones. Do you get the shot and risk potential serious long-term health impacts or do you not get the shot and risk catching the virus and spreading it to at-risk family who also didn't get it? Each has its own risk and you just have to figure out which one you're willing to take on more. For me, I decided to get the shot even though I have concerns about the long-term impacts because I have a heart condition that would make me much more susceptible to dying if I catch the virus. Hell, a virus is what gave me the heart condition to begin with!

And of course that shouldn't be a realistic priority. Noone is ever going to get near 100% vaccination rate but what's the adequate threshold for unrestricted normalcy?

I was surprised to see we've already reached a quarter of the population partially vaccinated by the time we expand things to the healthy "normies", the younger population who aren't in Healthcare or education eligibility. Is there another 20% in this newest wave who get vaccinated to push us over 40% that when combined with those with natural immunity could give us 50% immunization? Is that enough for normal activities?

Everyone in my family has the vaccine or has already had Covid so I don't GAF about getting the vaccine. I'm not at risk of taking out any old relatives.
