They did chemical attacks years ago and Obama didn't do jack shite about it.

Why now is there an outrage over our lack of response? (rhetorical question of course)

Might be splitting hairs but.....

quote:

The Protocol for the Prohibition of the Use in War of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or other Gases, and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare, usually called the Geneva Protocol, is a treaty prohibiting the use of chemical and biological weapons in international armed conflicts.
The Syrian civil war would not be "international" (I assume).

Agree. we have no strategic interest in Syria other than it has a stable government.

The idea that these treatises can actually be enforced is laughable. Laws don't matter if they aren't enforced. There is no law for war and there never will be.

Just because a law isn't enforced, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. 84% of incest goes unreported and unpunished, does that mean there's no incest laws in this country?

This shite is sick..... that whole region is a complete disaster.

That being said you people that say you don't care are sick.... u fricking internet tough guys would curl up into a ball and die if you had to endure the suffering that innocent people are being put through. Those children didn't ask to be in this horrific situation and it's the fault of the sick people that hold power in that region that this is happening. I don't know what can be done but I sure as hell have sympathy and pray for the innocent that are suffering.

Yes.

If no one enforces it, there is no law.

If no one stops you at the border, there is no border.

WW3, who's gonna fight whom? How many sides will there be? Which side will we be on? With or against new Zealand? To what degree did the Jews orchestrate it?

There are Russian forces there as well as ISIS whose basis lies outside of and inside of Syria, as well as varying degrees of help for rebels from other countries over the better part of last decade. It's very much international.

Let's put it this way.

Would YOU rather die instantly because a bomb was dropped on your house or writher in prolonged agony as your nervous system shuts down?

Believe you me, you can die in some pretty damn agonizing ways that are completely within the laws of war.

The reason chemical and (especially) biological weapons are largely illegal is that they are, by and large, ineffective weapons and aren't easy for those using them to control.

If the U.S. was ever placed into a situation where we thought chemical weapons would be strategically advantageous, we wouldn't hesitate to use them.

The haves vs. the have-nots.

Two, I guess.

You and I... we're on the haves.

With or against new Zealand?

With them, obviously. Clown question, bro.

To the nth degree.

in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter. But prolonged suffering caused by a chemical weapon is far worse than immediate death from an explosive.

In the past I did not give a shite either but seeing those videos of toddlers being tossed around and sprayed down while gasping for air was sad as shite. I just pictured my little girls in that situation and it made me sick.

Is this sort of like the 'if a tree falls in the woods but no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?' question?

Laws are laws, even the suggestion of possible enforcement still has some effect on outcomes. Also an ignored law can show how little regard the offender has for the organization that made the law.

So laws still exist even without enforcement, boom.
