Yeah, we have so many openings right now in Dev Ops, and AWS we can’t get enough qualified people into these positions. We’re not hurting by any means, just expanding divisions at a rapid pace. AWS certifications demonstrate and validate technical cloud knowledge and skills. I’d recommend AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate. Moreover, you’ll learn to be able to design and deploy highly available and scalable systems in AWS, as well as proper security, disaster recovery and troubleshooting concepts.

Congrats on your AWS certs, you’ll just keep building upon one another cert, until you ascertain systems architecture knowledge.

That was the first certification that I obtained for AWS then I picked up the SysOps and recently picked up the DevOps Pro cert, that one was a beast. Right now my focus is on Docker, Kubernetes and Ansible along with python and I believe I should be ready to take on a DevOps position.

Yeah, Apple will be the first to go!!

-sent from my iPhone XS Max (Coolest tech I’ve ever owned)

-edited from my iPad pro but left it the same

-thought about editing from my ballin custom built iMac but left it the same

-left for work and decided to edit small things on the post on my custom built MacBook Pro

-listened to music on my AirPods the entire time

-got to work and had to reboot the PC as soon as I got there to cross my fingers Windows would work:

Summary: Apple is poop. PCs will save the world.

Pure anecdotal evidence but I have known some school districts that have tried to abandon Office for Google Docs but ultimately ended up reverting back within 2 to 3 years. Office with all of it's bugs is still better than it's competition.

Google entices people with sweetheart deals for their office apps but many people don't care for them. I knew someone who works as a secretary for an elementary school and would complain about it constantly.

Not to say Microsoft doesn't do the same thing. I've been on many an Office 365 project years ago where Microsoft would either pay for the services to get it set up, charge a much lower price for a certain number of years, or both.

That's my early 2019 goal for certifications is to knock this one out. Had a couple of your colleagues give me and a coworker a one-day crash course in AWS a couple weeks ago that was highly beneficial and bought the official study guide shortly after.

Definitely do it. We’ve had some CCNA folks cross over and are grasping the technology at a decent pace. I was hired as a Software Engineer I with a EE degree, moved into Program Management, then AWS as a Senior Engineer. Been with Amazon for going on 7 years. The certs can be self taught, and I’d recommend, gaining a strong foundation in a scripting language such as Python to further your development.

My money would be on Apple or Facebook. Microsoft and Google are both extremely diverse in their technology investments. Look up what they’re doing in healthcare, hardware, big data, IoT. Just to name a few.

Apple may get disrupted like they did everyone else in the device market. Facebook may also get disrupted. Those companies need to get in to more things to insulate themselves from change.

That being said, I don’t think any of those companies are going anywhere soon.

I’d say Google and Microsoft will be the last to go. “Google it” isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and most entry computer classes are taught on PCs and spend half the semester covering Microsoft Office.

Microsoft’s integration of Office and OneDrive/SharePoint is just further securing their foothold in the business world.

Apple is dependent upon consumerism, and their products are not getting better, but worse. However, there are a lot of hipsters, so they could survive.

Microsoft is late to the SaaS party, and could have had a large market share. More and more competition with free software. If businesses adopt linux, it could spell trouble.

Google and Amazon rule the world right now.

Not sure who will fail first, yet I hope all of them fail sooner than later.

This is correct. Facebook has a lot of data and the ability to make sense of it for marketing/advertising purposes.

Amazon. Shipping cost are on the rise and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down. If it cost to much to ship individual products people will switch back to buying locally.

That won’t put them out of business, but it’s the best I could come up with

Apple us definitely the most vulnerable because the majority of their profits all come from one product... The iPhone.

Just like Nokia, they probably won't go out of business. They just won't be relevant.

Amazon could shutdown the retail web site and still be a multi-billion dollar company.

Amazon could easily take over management of the U.S. Postal system, manage it more efficiently make money doing it, and reduce their own shipping costs at the same time.

Even with the recent shipping woes I don't see Amazon dying anytime soon.

Apple has phones and computers. They are a cult and their fans are fanatical. They aren't dying anytime soon.

I could see Microsoft dying out if an alternative product came to market but it would take a long time for them to fail with all of their corporate business.

I'm going with Google. Yahoo was as dominant at one time and they died. I'm not remotely loyal to a search engine. Hell, half the time I use Bing at home because I find more animated gifs to display on TD than using google.
