None of them are going anywhere anytime soon, but Apple is undeniably the most at risk, albeit infinitesimal.

Amazon - continues to grow and expand their market, as long as they don't chase unicorns in the market they will last.

Microsoft - software and their enterprise likely won't fail. It's too useful worldwide.

Google - data on data on data. Their hardware game needs to step up, but overall what they are is beyond what anyone else can provide.

Apple - they have a cult following now, but their success was innovation and technology. Two things they've somewhat fallen short of in recent years, still make some big $$$ but when the next "apple" comes to the market its their decline.

Apple has a ton of cash but I'd put them first out of the 4. Most of their revenue comes from the iPhone. Another company may introduce some game changing replacement for current smartphone technology.

Same with Amazon. They are really great at what they do, but can be replaced by Walmart for Retail and Azure for AWS in less than a year. AWS would actually be the harder of the two because of corp contracts.

Forget corp contracts. Amazon is building and maintaining the CIA's secure cloud system and solution. Say what you want about physical brick-and-mortar type of explanations, but if you don't think Langley sees Amazon-and more specifically, AWS-for what it is as a secure, long-term business then you're foolish.

There are so many staggeringly uninformed takes on this subject. Wal-Mart and Azure replacing them? Sure, in one part of the other. But not both. Their combination of buyer tendency, market reach and scale-let alone their different profit drivers-are so diverse and yet so complimentary its unreal.

Your own rationalization for your opinion proves why you're wrong. It'd take two separate and massive entities to replace what they bring to the market simultaneously as one entity. That capability to marry both of those pieces of commerce in 2018 is such that barring some type of hugely destabilizing attempt to break up the company for anti-trust or anti-monopoly issues is the only way you can plausibly see AMZN go the way of the do-do bird for the time being...an I mean the long-term.

Good luck betting against Amazon.

In order of least likely:

1A Google
1B Amazon
Distant 3 MSFT
Fading 4 Apple

They will all be here for many many years but Apple is the weakest link by far.

How about listing why the others are more likely. The failure of Yahoo already proves a dominant search engine can fail completely.

Email? AOL didn't hold on to folks because they were unwilling to get a new email address.

Free office software. It will take folks 2 seconds to switch to libre office which works just as good as open office.

All 4 have cloud storage options.

Nothing compelling to keep a total stranglehold and avoid the same fate as yahoo.

Did it say it WOULD happen. Nope. None of the 4 are remotely close to failing. Amazon can keep a stranglehold on pricing to keep competition from passing them by. Microsoft has massive commercial business which won't be replaced on a whim. Apple is a cult.

Out of the 4, have zero problem stating Google could die faster than the other 4. Is it likely, no. He didn't ask if it was likely.

I hate Apple as much as the next guy but they have 200 billion is cash and their fans will buy their overpriced gizomos until the end of time.
