I actually didn’t think they were allowed to let past due medical bills impact credit anymore?

gosh dang baw what caused it? I dated a girl who was allergic to peanuts and it happened to her at a restaurant. She didn't have her damn epi pen in her purse. Scariest moment of my life.

So why didn’t you refuse the ambulance?

The entire concept of "in network" or "out of network" for ambulances, or even ER's, is ridiculous.

Having a network where you get cheaper care implies you have a choice, and in these situations, you often don't.

My wife immediately called 911 and they patched her over to the coast guard station in corpus, who sent a helicopter and a rescue swimmer to come get me. They took me to a hospital in corpus where I got several adrenaline shots and recovered in a few hours.

You could’ve taken a Benadryl and driven to an urgent care. What a pussy

I had a colonoscopy, chose the gastrointestinal provider that was in my network, had the procedure done, and find out later that their anesthesia provider (of which I had no choice) was out of network.

They charged me a much higher rate. I refused to pay it and they settled on the normal rate.

That’s likely the option I am going to end up resorting to. I was just hoping the power of the OT would find some way out for me

100 miles from home wasn’t the ideal time to comparison shop ambulance providers on Yelp.

I read fine. She said she was unconscious for approximately a minute, so unless it was the fastest ambulance in recorded history, she was conscious when it arrived. Unless California has a very particular law against it, an adult has the right to refuse treatment by an ambulance.

I edited to spell it out for you since I expected this exact response. Congrats on being predictable. So any actual response or what?

Hi, Picc. Sorry you’re dealing with this. I’m not admitted in California, but found this on line. It may give you some ammo.

The older I get, the more I don’t want to go anywhere. I definitely understand getting old and worn out by the BS of life. The less I have to deal with (and be billed by) asinine people, the happier I am. Unfortunately I can’t go many places and avoid it.

Get off my lawn.

This bill is par for the course for an ambulance. You’re lucky it wasn’t more expensive.

10 grand when I passed out at work in 2015.
