Suing for "emotional" trauma. Good grief.

Emotional trauma, hell, I'd be suing because of the possibility of contracting rabies. Especially since it seems the university knew there were bats in the dorm's ceiling and did little to address the issue.

Ain’t got shite on chigger bites on your sack. Having to stop yourself from scratching in class is real emotional trauma

She's suing the university for giving her a bug-infested bed that caused her legit medical issues. "Emotional damage" is just some extra shite her lawyer cooked up to cover his fees.

Do you really think it is okay for an allegedly elite school to provide a bug-infested mattress to a rent-paying student? If your daughter had her scalp or tits or inner thighs all bit up by school-endorsed bedbugs, how scorched earth would you go?

If your dorm mattress had chiggers, you also had a very legit legal claim against the university.

Yeah the rabies bit was glossed over. Who gives a shite about the ticks. If you wake up with a bat in your room, standard of care in emergency medicine is to initiate the rabies vaccine series.

The dorm I lived in during college had toxic mold. I developed asthma from it (I’m not the only one) - not sure if the college knew

We didn’t sue - although the college did pay all of our doctors visits at the time until the mold was removed

Fear of contracting a fatal disease from a problem the university knew about but failed to address?

Well, then you were dumb. If the college paid for your doctor visits they likely knew. Even if they didn't know, they should have known. Any lawyer worth half a shite could prove so.

You now have a debilitating lifelong medical condition related to your college dorm situation. You chose not to hold the responsible people responsible. Now it is too late. They paid your initial bills, and you've paid for it since then.

This is just shockingly stupid.

Her attorney argued that she was “not aware the bites were being caused by bat ticks deeply nested and rooted in her dorm room ceiling from bats living above her bed in the ceiling.”

50%+ of lawsuits sound frivolous until you hear the facts. Maybe 5% are in actuality.

The funniest situation for me is when a friend that has bashed lawyers (me) about frivolous cases for years shows up at my office wanting me to rain fire down upon an entity for an extremely frivolous case.

Personal injury and civil rights complaints (which make up a tiny minority of cases but get disproportionate media attention) are often written very one-sided and over-the-top.

Contract complaints (which make up the vast majority of our civil legal system but get no public attention) are usually presented very straightforward and supported with documentary evidence.
