Or anytime Austin's glass broke in 1998

That was a fun show. I remember being very excited about this main event.
It was also the same Nitro where Chris Jericho told Dean Malenko that he doesn't look like his brother (insinuating his mom slept with other men while Malenko's dad was on the road) and Malenko got mad, attacked Jericho, and pulled Jericho's hair from his head, violating the no-contact policy and getting Malenko pulled from the upcoming Cruiserweight Title match.

This should have been a PPV match.

With Goldberg as WCW World Heavyweight Champion... that made the Goldberg vs. Curt Hennig match at Bash at the Beach for the WCWWHC
The Hennig/Goldberg match lasted 3 minutes 50 seconds according to Wiki.
Matches that lasted longer than the WCWWHC match at Bash at the Beach 1998...
Villanos IV & V vs. Damien & Ciclope (7:51)
Raven vs. Saturn (10:40)
Juventud Guerrera vs. Kidman (9:55)
Eddie Guerrero vs. Chavo Guerrero, Jr. in a hair vs. hair match (11:54... and was Chavo's 2nd match in a row)
Giant (now Big Show) vs. Kevin Greene (yes of NFL fame) (6:58)
Rey Mysterio, Jr. vs. Chris Jericho for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship (6:00)
Booker T vs. Bret Hart for the WCW World Television Championship (8:28)
Hollywood Hogan & Dennis Rodman vs. Diamond Dallas Page & Karl Malone (23:47)

I remember wheee I was and how I felt. That’s how big that match was!
8 year old me counted loud as hell to charles Robinson. Man.. what a time. Goldberg was like a superhero back then.

I loved in the late 90s how much shite the crowd threw into the ring at the end
When they came to the dome with master p, they must have had 40 rolls of toilet paper in the ring amongst all kinds of other shite.

seriously... if done right... Hogan/Goldberg II should've been at Road Wild or even Fall Brawl: War Games (the next 2 WCW PPVs)... and it would've assured a huge buyrate
however... the next time Goldberg defended the title on a PPV was 3 shows after BatB... Halloween Havoc...
the infamous "dark match" against Diamond Dallas Page where WCW ran out of time and many TV audiences didn't see it b/c PPV cut away from it just as the match was about to begin... so WCW had to re-air the match in its entirety the next night on Nitro
that Halloween Havoc show also had the infamous Hogan/Warrior II match

But Bishoff was stuck on winning TV ratings.
Just imagine the amount of $$ WCW could have made from it.
I think the biggest harm wasn't just the money lost by not having it PPV, it was setting a Main Event bar for your free-programming that couldn't be beaten. If they'd have milked the angle a little longer and put it on a PPV, it would have been huge and might have had a lasting effect bigger than the quick audience they picked up from RAW that night. It seemed short-sighted. But I suppose that's always been the criticism of Bishoff.
I was all over the Monday Night Wars back in 98' and I remember my interest starting to wane a bit following this match. It seemed like too much, too fast. I actually began tuning into WWF more frequently after this because Austin was more compelling to me in comparison to Goldberg and Nash.

CSB moment from that day. My friends and I were headed to Atlanta the night of that match to a hotel to go to six flags the next day. Stopped at a rest stop on I-20 and ran into Kevin Greene.
We weren't 100% positive it was him until he came out that night wearing the exact same clothes, lol.

Perhaps WCW’s last great and memorable moment. Goldberg was (and still is) a beast

ETA: this was the 1st time I remember "knowing" the result going into the match... b/c I had stumbled onto the report that said Nash's contract included a guaranteed run with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and this was the last chance for WCW to complete its end of the deal

And that was the last time Nitro would beat Raw in the ratings.

I loved NWO, but I always hated Hulk Hogan. Not sure why, I know he is popular and a lot of people like him, but I hate him. That's the only thing about the NWO I didn't like... And I was clad Goldberg beat him.

That's why Luger beat Hogan in Aug 97. He came back in Sep 95 and it was put into his contract that he had to be WCW champ within 2 years. Still a great moment though.

I used to write for a few online dirtsheets back then and the rumor was that Hogan (and his big ego) was going to end the streak that night. It was a pretty big shock when Goldberg won — that crowd was electric.
