Are you still doing lots of running?

Wow missed this part. Slowly up your protein to 2x bw and carbs to 200. Then as needed add a tablespoon of olive oil or mct oil to your shakes. Start slow on the oil or your arse will be leaking like a damn faucet.

Again, I don't complain because I know people would love the problem of not being able to gain weight, but it is a hurdle for me trying to gain.

Running has slowed down significantly. Basically the cardio that I do is limited to whatever is in the programmed workout whenever I show up to the gym. Today was heavy on cardio, so I got a good sweat going, but tomorrow will be mostly heavy lifts.

Thanks 777 that advice is really appreciated. So what you're suggesting is that I go to roughly 320g protein over time but drop carbs to 200g? That honestly would probably be easier than my current regiment.

Exactly and if you still aren't gaining add olive oil to protein shakes slowly over time til you start gaining again.

What does adding olive oil to shakes do? I'm honestly asking because I've never heard of this.

Well honestly just adds good calories. But putting it in the shakes makes the shakes have a little better texture and flow smoother and its tasteless when you do it.

Mct oil is honestly better but i dont like the taste. You could do coconut oil or grass fed butter too.

All the same premise, add quick clean burning calories. Coconut oil and mct oil are best but in my experience the hardest to get to work.

Can you do CF 2-3x a week or so and mix in some powerlifting the other days? I know some CF gyms will have open gym time, you could just do some heavy lifting some days once you feel comfortable with the lifts

My gym has open gym most of the time, it's not a matter of access.

I'm being completely honest with myself when I say that I am just not as motivated to work out alone. Nor do I have the knowledge. But I really should work on that.

I'vet been using the Quest MCT powder. Mixes well and I don't think I can even taste it. Adds great consistency to shakes.

Relatively odorless/ tasteless MCT oil

LINK

The guy that runs the site is a little different, but he makes a good product

PS MCT oil and butyric acid (found in butter) / healthy fats along with micronutrients/greens/fiber are postulated to be big players in influencing the microbiome. The science is not completely worked out, but worth following.

frick no. Stick to 10-12. Sometimes 15. Keep your rest short 30-45sec. Change up the way you perform a rep (i.e. do negative reps on a 3 count). Take your sets to failure.

Profit

All of those blimpy fat muscle dudes who think they are ripped are going to live by the 5x5 though

This is so wrong. Unless you are a professional, keep your reps low, in the 5-8 range.

Keep your rests at 30secs or less, except for the biggest lifts(bench, squats and deadlifts).

Do drop sets and supersets for your isolation exercises, and keep the rest extremely short.

Do 2-3 HIIT cardio session a week.

If I'm looking to shred some before spring, did I make a mistake in buying this protein? It's only 16 servings so I'll finish it out regardless. What is the best protein on the market?
ON gold standard has always been my fail-safe go to protein but I'm wanting to try new kinds.

Quest MCT powder review

I've been using this for a few weeks. Traded my car for it at GNC because I ran out of the NOW MCT oil. It is a hell of allot more convenient for shakes that I blend.

For those that train purely for stength what is your motivation? Do you you just not really care about aesthetics? I always wondered this seeing guys in the gym whose strength is very impressive but they are basically fat with a big arms.

smooth is the new ripped. I like the guys who bench their body weight at 315 and act like its a big deal.

How would consuming pure fat help your physique if you aren't very skinny?

Also, isn't coconut oil one of the worst oils for you? It has the highest concentration of saturated fat

Fat doesn't make you fat. MCT is a very efficiently utilized energy source.
