There were two I received that I wasn't super impressed with. Gifted them to other people. Still ended up ahead of my monthly costs.

IMO, the $1000 range for divers is no man’s land. You can get a really solid diver for around $500, where a $1000 one wouldn’t be much of an upgrade in features or brand name.

Instead of a few $1000 divers, just do one Tudor or Omega for $2k or $3k, or save the money and get a solid Steinhart for $500.

I think this is probably answer

Do seiko now save for Omega or Tudor.

That's not bad advice.
Piggybacking on that idea, you could pick up a vintage Diver for $350-$500 and be just as happy...if you're careful. Lotta cheap seagull replicas out there.

But I'm a vintage kinda guy.

Yeah it's a winner

At price point Omega seems too much compared to Tudor

Maybe Tudor black bay

It’s a 5 so one of seiko’s lower level movements. Solid movement but you will need to adjust it a little more frequently. I enjoy adjusting autos.

It's scary how easily a rep...er... homage version can be built. I wouldn't buy one second-hand without paperwork from a reputable dealer.

It absolutley is...especially for the same ETA movements found in Tag Heuer, Hamilton, Tissot, Zenith, Zodiac (until recently) etc.

I like the older Omegas with in-house mvmnts. My Dad's 1962 Seamaster is my favorite watch...still.

Buddy’s got a pretty pimp blue Oris diver. Think he paid $500-$600 or so.

And if whoever wants an orange face diver, go with an Orient Mako. No reason to spend more than that on something you likely won’t wear very often. And they’re damn nice watches anyway, especially for the price.

What about this movement? Kinetic means quartz auto hybrid?

I could go to Nato strap if I wanted?

I think it would look fine on a NATO.
And yeah, kinetic is kind of a hybrid...that one has a rotor, so it's an auto, I think. Kinetic Perpetual?

If you want a bit more style you could get a Prodiver. Tons of options on that front, albeit a few hundred more depending on the exchange rate.
