OT Travellers - wheelchairs in airports

Does it seem like more and more people are getting wheeled around the airport these days? I am sitting at Charlotte and I can see over 10 wheelchair riding passengers in my boarding area.
And it’s not just fat people. At least half of these folks look perfectly capable of walking to their gate. Are people just using the wheelchairs because they are lazy or is it the perk of getting to board first? Or are people increasingly secretly disabled even though they appear fine? And how do they all get to the airport ticket counter from the parking lot?

People who are too poor to pay Business/1st Class use this tactic to get on first.

How can you tell if they're able to walk or not?

Does it matter?
Your shitty seat will still be available even if everyone else boards before you.

Not for Southwest

Pretty sure you can rule this out. When someone can use high blood pressure as a disability you have this kind of stuff happen.

My dad uses them in airports, he looks normal until you see him walk. Would take him a week and a half to walk through that airport.

Mind your business and eat your McDouble.

Sometimes I park in handicap, then fake limp in.

I also have a cane in my truck for added affect.

Subtle brag that you fly coach?

That’s advanced technique.

My S/O had a stroke as a young woman. She looks normal until you see her walk. She moves slowly, with a very bad limp.
To get to the wheel chair - we take Uber to the airport and I can help her through the entry way to the wheel chairs which are usually near the entrance. A porter will take us through security (we have TSA Pre-Check which gets us through screening fast anyhow). She can't manage ramps or inclines without assistance, so the porter wheels her to the door of the plane.

Well, I would say she is bonafide then.

Flights are cheaper these days and people that couldn't afford them now can.

It's wrong. Wheelchairs are depressing. We shouldn't ever have to see them or the people in them.

Haven’t been in a terminal in years bro. My jet, however, is equipped with a hydraulic lift if necessary.
