Idk about the gasser, but I have a 2021 Ram 3500 dually with the Cummins, I average 18.5 mpg with a cold air intake being the only upgrade. I have actually seen 21.8 mpg before. It’s the rear end that mainly affects the mpg when not towing. I have the 3.73’s, it’s the 4.11’s that give a lower mpg. The def is negligible if you go to a pump (2.99 per gallon) and not buy tbe 2.5 gallon box for $18 at a store.
Maintenance can get expensive. I used to pay $225 per oil change, but I change it now for $100 and change my own fuel filters at $40. To which I do religiously.
The tranny and the front end iare the weak links. The 68RFE makes me nervous, but with 126k no issues at all. Though it is my daily driver, I also pull a 5th wheel, a 20’ utility trailer w/ tractor, a 14’ enclosed cargo trailer and a 20’ cattle trailer all with no issues. My mpg towing has averaged 12.5 mpg.
The front end is a solid axle, and therefore can not be aligned like a normal truck. I would suggest changing out the oem ball joints to a high quality adjustable ball joints so that your front end can be properly aligned and not eat through tires.
Even after all of this I would never go back to a gasser, I love my diesel. If diesel is too expensive, get the upside app you can save a lot. I have saved $1100 across 2 years. Which is roughly 2 months of diesel for me.

Porthudsonplaya is gonna miss out on a deal over 10% of the price?

If you offer to let them finance this, you might get them down to $55,000. They aren’t going to drop much for a cash sale.
Like most everything you post in here, this is probably a made up story anyway.

Imagine thinking telling them you are paying cash is helping you get a better deal

Drove truck and was ready to buy. Offered the guy $50k cash (listed for $57k). Easiest sale he’d ever make. He chuckled and said that these are hard to keep on the lot. Could maybe use some juju and get $500 off. $56.5k I said, ok. Well I have $50k in my checking account, but will move it back to my brokerage on Friday if I can’t find what I want for that price. Give me a call if you want to sale a truck. Also looking
at F250s.
Having cash on hand makes the sale less valuable to the salesman

Don't tell him that, he thinks he's he's smarter than everyone else.

Flexing that he moved 50k from a brokerage account is the part I find funniest

It won't. They don't care if it is cash.

Not hating on ram trucks but they build a third rate vehicle. All suspension components are complete trash along with the transmission. That transmission is your biggest problem hands down. 6.7 Cummins is a great engine but the transmission is the weak link. Doors are light and junky door hinges sag quickly and truck rides like crap. Get a f250 with the 7.3 gas big block. Same power not as much torque but you aren’t pulling a D6 dozer anyway. All the sensors and def with the new diesels is not the way to go anymore.

Currently rolling in a ‘13 Tundra. 220,000 miles.
Unless your boat and RV are massive, stick with 'Yota. Go find the lowest mileage 2021 Tundra TRD Pro that you can get your hands on and call it a day. Diesels, while great for towing, are a complete PITA on maintenance. Don't buy one unless you REALLY need that towing capacity.

Don’t forget you’re adding DEF
Off topic, but add Nudef to DEF to avoid common DEF related issues.

I lived and worked in Wyoming for several years. While there had friends drive or fly to Kellogg. One friend saved $10k off a mega cab Ram 2500 by passing up the dealer in Casper, and going to Dave Smith.
