From my memory, the problem is that a paladin will always fight evil. There was no retreating. Also, you couldn’t do any shady shite with him.

My wife and I started playing online with some old college friends who've been into it for a long time when Covid hit and we were all locked down. It's a good way to socialize with some friends we otherwise likely wouldn't see while also geeking out heavily.

Not sure how much longer we're going to regularly play, but since March of 2020 we've played probably on average 3 times a month. I'd always wanted to play but never had the opportunity, and it's been super fun. My kids are starting to ask about it and want me to run a game for them so that might be my next step.

Cypress coast brewery hosts d&d games. I haven’t played in decades, but curious as to the clientele that plays in a brewery.

Lot of people are jumping ship from D&D to a similar game called Pathfinder because the D&D parent companies Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro are trying to squeeze customers for more money. They hired former Microsoft execs and have publicly stated their goal is to double their profits in the next few years.

Their strategy is to try and force players to play online so they can use microtransactions to bleed everyone dry.

The are also trying to go super woke.

frick 'em.

Dnd has really gone downhill since corporations have been trying to capitalize on nerd culture now that it’s mainstream. Plus some of the people it’s attracted are awful. They removed racial characteristics because they were “racist” lol.

Problem is they went on for about 3-4 hours, ending around 1am on a work night.

Same problem that I had joining a game with some friends. It was fun, but I don't have the time to commit to it.

Currently playing Solasta:: Crown of the Magistar, 5e rulebook for the game, can be single player only or multiplayer. It's a fun game. But I remember HS in the early 80's and seeing people dressed up whacking at each other with homemade weapons/armor in the public parks around Memphis.

I know these games have been very popular for a long time, but when I was growing up in the 90s, if you head someone played D&D they were automatically labeled as a nerd. Im pretty sure they were some kids who played, but didn't tell anyone.

I've seen kids not get picked to play in a pickup game (sports) because they were known to play D&D.

Probably because you’re the only won with 3 days free time to set the game up.

That game was awesome though. I loved the computer version even more as it allowed you to attack and defend via strategy deployment cards as opposed to random number generated dice
