My best guess is that when you’re used to being taller than everyone, it feels a little strange/disorienting to be with someone of similar height. It’s not normal for us. Likewise, shorter men are often ok with chicks being taller because they are used to people being taller. It’s normal for them.

I had been with one as tall as me at 6’1.5” - eye to eye, vertically and horizontally, usually dated at about 5’5”-5’7” but always wanted to date a little bitty one at about 5’ or shorter. Never happened.
In summary, tall or short is fine but not 6’2”+ with 6 inch heels. Yikes!!!,
