I'm sad I never got to go to Magic Island.

Ive not looked into any trackers, they weren’t around when I was performing.

Top 3 memorable moments. Go.
My favorite magic to perform was/is close-up, as opposed to "parlor" or "stage". Close-up magic is the most difficult magic to learn but it is without doubt the most mystifying and gratifying. Here is what first comes to mind regarding my most memorable moments:
1. "Dropping" a coin while performing Charming Chinese Challenge for the first time, totally exposing the effect. It was memorable because my audience was my own family and they destroyed me for not practicing enough. Will never forget feeling so ill-prepared...from that moment on my preparation for learning new things and even performing with new patter went to a whole new level.
2. Getting called out by a 5th grader when I performed Hopping Halves at an elementary school. He knew exactly what the routine was and proceeded to tell everyone about nested coin shells after I had finished...his own dad was into magic. I could only laugh it off and thank him for being interested in magic.
3. Performing the various Liquid Metal routines repeatedly and getting the same awesome reaction from audiences.
ALL-TIME FAVORITE: while performing at a YMCA in a very poor part of San Antonio, I did a slightly off-script Extreme Burn for a little girl and her family. I let them kid keep 3 of the $20 bills. David Blaine did something similar on TV but gave away $100's. #inb4YouPoor

I'm not sure how this guy rates in the Houston area but we recently attended a show by Harry Maurer and everyone seemed fairly impressed by his stuff.

Not me, but he was my mentor for years. He is working on a routine to make his diabetes disappear....not sure how that's coming along.

Magic is very popular these days thanks to TV specials over the past 10 years, starting with David Blaine's older Street Magic episodes and now Penn & Teller's Fool Us. Throw in several seasons of America's Got Talent and you've got yourself plenty of inspiration if performing magic is a lingering hobby.
I've not heard of that guy you noted, but I don't follow performers nowadays. Not surprised to hear this though. There are lots of great (and young) magicians out there.

We had our boundaries, no touching was one of them.

If you lived in Houston from 2001 to 2010, I may very well be the father of your kids.
