If I cosign for a motorcycle loan for my prodigal son (age 23), do I have any legal liability if he gets in a wreck or runs over someone? I know I'd be liable for payments, but that's not an issue - I would be paying for it anyway but letting him do it through his name to help him establish credit. I just don't want to get sued as a co-owner or any crap like that.

There a lot better ways to build credit.

You just may be too stupid to cosign.

If that is possible.

if you're on the title, you can be held liable if something were to happen.

This is retarded. Make your son build credit the right way: pay bills, and use a credit card on normal expenses and pay the balance off each month.

I am a lawyer and the Supreme Court has ruled that motorcycles for your kid are trashy.

OP was a dentist who openly brags about scamming some disability insurance policy he took out on himself. He then trolls the board about how rich he is and how he pays for his kid to see the greatest karate instructors. Either a fantastic troll or a fantastic real-life douchebag.

Motorcycle for your 23 year old son and you're paying

No on every level. Just no. Why would you do that?

frick you, douchebag. My disability is as legitimate as they come and I have the scars and metal plates in my spine to prove it. And I took out an own-occupation disability insurance policy over 20 years ago in my first year of practice because I've had spinal issues since age 10. Don't be jealous just because you're a broke arse ambulance chaser.

I'm not doing this simply to establish his credit. I'm buying him a bike because he's trying to get his shite together with a decent job and lacks transportation. Doing it in a manner that helps him establish credit would just be a favorable byproduct of the transaction.

Have him buy bus tickets on his credit card and then pay it off every month for him. Credit will be maxed in no time.

This is legal advice.

unfortunatly it's the latter.

Dude really is the epitome of douchebag

Didn't he 'save' his white trash wife (2nd piece of arse in his entire life) from a trailer park after scooping her up out of his dental chair. Now he parades his trash trophy all over tDirty Dell spending all that disability money and lauding his nerd kid as a karate prodigy.

For the record, anyone who is smart enough to insure their car but too stupid to insure their income deserves to be poor like you dumb fricks. And this is kid #1 from the white trash wife. Carry on.

So, you're trying to kill off the irresponsible son with a motorcycle? If he wants to really get his shite together get him an old Honda that he won't plow into the back of a tractor trailer doing 120 on a two lane.

When he decides to grow up, get him a bike, or better yet, let him get his own.
