I thought property lines were set in about 10-15 feet off the curb, to allow utilities, sidewalks, etc.
Therefore,you do not own it, and technically if someone plopped down in that strip of land, you really couldn't make them leave. Like you can't disallow people from walking on the sidewalk in front of your house.
However, you sure as hell are the one required to maintain it.
So, it's sort of confusing.
