OT Jewelry experts, need help please.

I had a diamond ring made for the wife a few years ago in the shape of a star. One of the diamonds fell out yesterday and she was unable to find it. I need to have another piece cut to fit and mounted on to the ring. Any suggestions on how to get this done other than just walking into a retail jeweler? TIA

If in Baton Rouge, Hannons jewelry on Bluebonnet. Their jeweler's name is Jimmy. Very good with that type of thing and custom pieces in general.

Is it just a small stone of a cluster that made up the star design that's missing? If so, go back to where you purchased it.

I had a small diamond replaced from my wedding ring a few years ago. My husband just brought my ring into the jeweler who sold it to him and they fixed it. I don't think it took very long, but it wasn't a unique cut.
Not sure how you would get it done without actually taking the ring in someplace.

of course I'll have to take it in somewhere, I'm just trying to find a place that can actually do the work as opposed to going into a retail store that will probably involve 2-3 middle men, the ring was a custom job made in Israel so going back to that jeweler is not happening, I'm in the DFW metroplex if anyone up here has a rec, and not averse to shipping it to a reputable jeweler but would prefer not to

Can't help you in the Dallas area, but a lot of small, local jewelry shops (not Kay or Zales) will often have someone on hand who can repair it. Generally speaking, the old guys who have run a small family shop for 50 years have stayed in business because they're good at taking care of people.

Anyone who buys a diamond needs help IMO, but it's not the kind a jeweler can provide. At least you're not alone, though.

You just need to find a jeweler, not just a jewelry store. Most places that aren't a "franchise" type jewelry store have jewelers that actually work on the items. My wife's ring was made inside the store. Now most don't cut diamonds, but unless the diamond was cut in a special shape (usually doesn't veer too far off, because they cut with the crystalline structure to bring out the "sparkle"), they should be able to find something to fit the space.
