500k Spartans

Half a million Berserkers.

Then we will fight in the shade!

Mongols, Ghengis’ mongols to be exact
This would be my pick also. They took warfare to another level and were the first to use what Hitler used in WWII in the Blitzkreig----only they did it with horses and bows.

500,000 romans employing the maniple structure and organization damn near conquered the know world. If it was actually romans and not conscripts they could give most people more than they could handle, but I just believe 500,000 mongol horse archers would be incredibly tough to beat.
As to hardcore histories, have you listened to the newest one yet? It’s pretty awesome so far

I’m about 50 mins in

I really like the Romans. They had organization, knew total warfare, and had a fierce loyalty in addition to having a civilization back home to fund the fighting long-term.
It would be something, though, to see 500,000 Viking berserkers going nuts. They also had a knack for oceanfaring, even if their longboats didn't constitute an armada.
Otherwise, you can't go wrong with 500K Spartans as someone said (or Greeks in general, because they also had a working navy with Athens) or Genghis Khan's Mongolians.
Edit: it really just depends on the terrain. If it's a little of everything (open ground, mountains, desert, snow, ocean, marsh), you really just need the most flexible army, and one with a navy.

I’m gonna give it another listen. I kept having to pause it. Couldn’t get a real great flow doing that.

Hundreds of thousands of Berserkers were slaughtered by the Romans because the Roman strategy was about 100 years ahead of the Berserkers.

Kind of a detour, but I’ve always wondered how a modern special forces unit would stand up to say, the entire British army in the American Revolution
How large is the unit?
Estimated 50k British soldiers in the American Revolution. No doubt the special forces unit could take out a ton but I assume the British would form a few traps or some sort of strategy to take out a smaller force with modern day weapons. Unless the special forces are using long range artillery.

I’ll say mongols or Persians
Spartans were fierce, many of them were pedophiles. Come to think of it the ancient world had an insane amount of pedophiles

Damn autocorrect and fat fingers do not mix on an iPhone and trying to type and unusual word. Thanks for the correction

Yeah I don’t think the special forces guys would do as good as people think in that scenario. 10 special forces guys vs. 100 redcoats though, give me the special forces guys.

Also, 500K Israelites with King David leading them and God on their side??? Good luck to anybody trying to stop that force.

As hard as it was to not call the Mongols, I think I would have to go with the Romans. Their record of longevity beats the Mongols. Their internal political structure was better than the Mongols'.

that ok. I just learned that cause I Googled Mandible Structure.
