You're probably sleeping (if you're a side sleeper) or sitting (at work) in a bad position that is pulling your spine out of proper alignment, and your recreational activities are revealing the problem because that's when you're engaging the misaligned portion. Look into that first & foremost. I learned a very painful lesson about bad sleeping positions early this year.

I am in the car a lot for my job. W hole lot, actually. And when I'm not in the car headed to a meeting I'm at my desk.

I stop and stretch every 1:30 on my longer work drives now. And get that wallet out of the back pocket

great idea. I'm starting to think it's a combo of sitting all the time and maybe just being new to golf and my back not being accustomed to the movements
eta I already pull the wallet out. Makes my arse cheek go numb after a while

stretch your hamstrings, hip flexors, and roll out your t-spine

I'm going to start being more proactive with stretching. I work out, but admittedly don't stretch like I should.

Alright. Deadlifts and white cans. Those white cans help to deaden the pain.
I'm just passing on the things I've learned thru the old weekly golf threads.

It's your stance. You are addressing a golf ball and your towards is off line.

T-Spine is more than likely the culprit. Especially since a mobile t-spine is essential in any swinging motion...and deadly if you don't have any. (rotation of the spine should take place in the t-spine.if the t-spine isn't mobile, the lumbar spine will be forced to compensate...bad shite happens then) no way to know for sure without a look. stretching hamstrings or anything for that matter isn't great advice without knowing for sure. a muscle/joint area can be "tight" for many reasons and stretching it can often do more harm than good. doing some less aggressive mobility work on them is a lot safer and definitely a lot more affective when giving advice without knowing what the exact problem is.

Were you snap hooking the ball?

unless he swings like a complete retard, this probably isn't a golf problem, it's a musculoskeletal prob

scenario i've seen a bazillion times with golfers.
1. no t-spine mobility
2. plays golf
3. hurts low back because of compensation due to no t-spine mobility
4. hamstrings tighten up because they're protecting the low back
answer: fix t-spine
not always. never deal in absolutes, especially over text. but i'd be willing to wager
next guess would be hips. any time anything hurts, look above and below the ailing area for the culprit

nope. I slice it almost every time
schmelly, thanks for the tips. I'm going to do some research . If I take lessons would this be something discussed? Assuming the lessons are legit, of course.
