OT Etiquette on holding the door for a lady

Let's say one of you baws approach a door that swings away from you. Approaching the door from the other direction is an OT-6.
Do you open the door, awkwardly holding the door open from across the jamb, or do you go through the door first and hold the door open for the OT-6?

Go through and hold it on the other side. Don't be that guy in the way in the door opening.

I open or hold the door for females - age, sex or race doesn’t matter

I speed up and open the door from the inside.

How do you know this person identifies as a lady?

I always hold the door for women even if ugly or minority

IMO it doesn't matter rating. If they are close by and coming in too, it's cordial to do so. Just the way I was raised.

I am old school
She may be no lady
She may be an OT 1
Still holding the door
Growing up in the south I was always taught the sign of a real gentleman was to put the other person at ease more than just Emily Post type manners.

I hold doors open for anyone just as a general courtesy.

Both ways depending on logistics.
There's a lot of math involved taking into account door weight, arm angle, tensile strength of arm, wind load, etc.

I always hold the door open the door for women no matter what she looks like. It’s part of being a man

OT 7 and above I hold the door from across the jamb so she has to brush by me

The real question is do you go through first and hold the door behind them, or do you hold the door open even though you will kind of be in the way, and let the lady come through first?

I hold the door regardless. Though, when women just “expect it” it does irk me.

You are a chauvinist pig if you hold the door
You think women arent capable of doing that themselves?
You sexist POS

In some west coast cities this can be an offensive gesture. Be careful about that...no trouble!

This.

In the scenario, this. But if the door is coming outward, I wait and hold for anybody.
