Basically, what temps can an exterior, free standing faucet wrapped in bubble wrap withstand without freezing?

Not sure air is a very good insulator.

Basically just air and very very thin plastic? Sounds like just a matter of time (and not much of it) before the pipe is the same temp as the outside air.

Not an engineer though so I’d wait for more responses.

Are you suggesting that bubble wrap migrate?

Actually, I think an air gap is one of the oldest known insulation techniques.

I'm no Engineer but I don't think bubble wrap would do much good

Most bubble wrap has a thin side. The cold will penetrate that. Some medium-sized bubble wrap might be more suitable. I might also be think' about icing packets from toaster strudels.

I am pretty sure bubble wrap will limit heat transfer. I was trying to figure out by how much.

Need to fart on the wrap first before wrapping it around pipes.
Warm fart air will help maintain comfortable temp
