OT Drs and Nurses: is chloroquine a readily available drug in the hospital setting?

What's hilarious is people are already buying out the tonic water thinking they'll be cured or vaccinated by drinking it.

A pharmacist friend of mine told me it is currently sold out. He is waiting for the wholesaler to resupply.

I meant for those ACTUALLY in the hospital. Obviously you can get it from a pharmacy

Hospital pharmacies order drugs for the entire hospital
In fact the majority of pending scripts in our queue are because nurses and docs order a patients home meds and they have no idea if drug is in stock or not

No not in the US. We use hydroxychloroquine instead.

it's fascinating to me that people don't seem to realize hospitals have their own pharmacies responsible for just about everything related to drug procurement

get ready for a whole lot of this....
and a shortage of hyodroxychloroquine too.... the poor Lupus and RA patients that depend on this will be SOL ...hate it for them
it's the same thing with Tamiflu early on when it hits... they never make enough of it and the first big batch is used up then its a waiting period for them to make and distribute it again...
I'm curious though does this Chloroquine just reduce the symptoms by another day or two or are they saying it completely eradicates the virus ...

That's what I'm hearing. Supposed cures:
1) Tonic water (quinine) and mega dosing with zinc will cure if infected.
2) Mega dosing vitamin C will prevent infection, supposedly the chinese discovered this and it's why their numbers stopped.
3) Stanford has a vaccine
4) Israeli's created a vaccine last week
5) Tulane Primate Center close to having a vaccine
If an Emergen-C or orange juice prevents people from getting infected why are the numbers still climbing.
These cure rumors must be BS. Plus have seen nothing of the vaccine rumors on legit TV.

A doctor can prescribe you pretty much anything they want whenever they want. That's kinda what we, as a society, license them for and entrust them to do. If they frick up and harm or kill you, then that's when the civil and criminal legal system may get involved to decide if their actions warrant penalty.
