Buddy of mine had a seizure yesterday, cause unknown.

At ER, the doc told me that he had a temp five degrees below normal. Doc said he had absolutely no idea what might cause that.

Worried about my friend. Any thoughts?

you've come to the right place. If an emergency room doctor cant figure it out, the OT can!

I’m told the OT is the source of all that is true and holy.

Blue balls… they get cold, causing coldness and bitterness in men allegedly.

Shocker. A doctor who can't figure shite out.

He needs an MRI of the brain.

He needs to see a endocrinologist to check hormone levels.

He needs to see a cardiologist for a complete work up.

Also, they can test him for viruses, poisons (yes poisons), etc.

Tell him not to have any more seizures. He might freeze to death.

ER doc working Saturday. Didn’t expect much on neurology from him.

Hadn’t thought of that. Good catch.

Nobody thinks about being poisoned, but I know a guy who ate elephant ear root thinking it was ginger. He crashed in the ER. Luckily, someone figured it out

Doctors are like anyone else - there are good ones and shitty ones. He needs to see another Dr.

I had a medication that was making my ankles swell like a 80 year old woman. Dude told me to go buy compression socks. I walked out to the front desk and made an appt with another Dr.

No. He does have a scrip for medical marijuana.

Your friend needs to stop running straight antifreeze, maybe cut it down to 75% antifreeze/ 25% water.

And stop having seizures too.

Complex problems sometimes require simple solutions.

My “Normal” temp is 97.6. There is a range and his being 5 below may not be as extreme as it looks especially after a seizure. I would think a certain level of shock would be expected after a seizure. Time may be the medicine.

There were some pretty good jokes in there.
Always the first thing I would read when I was a kid.
I think the other was " Life In These United States".

Is this a normal type of test that the ER would have that covers a wide array of poisons?

Looks like autonomic dysregulation due to seizure activity can cause hypothermia. Also, some medications and toxins can cause it as well.

Your buddy needs to be asked about the weed he's been smoking to see if that had anything to do with it. Weed and seizures aren't strangers. See if he got something that may have been tainted to see if he has something in his system that's no bueno. So this could go to help the poison/toxins check comments.

Funny the ER Dr got bashed when the buddy may have had something in his system that's hard to account for.
