OT dentists: Invisalign vs Smile Direct Club? *update page 3*

I'm in my mid 30s and didn't have braces as a kid because my teeth never really were a problem then. Fast forward to the last 10 years and my teeth have progressively gotten more and more jacked up. They're not terrible by any stretch of the imagination but they do need to be straightened out.
I really like what I'm reading on Smile Direct Club and I like their price of $1,850 even more. Sure they have some negative reviews but every company out there has terrible reviews online. I'm just hesitant to trust my orthodontics to doctors online.
Invisalign would make me much more comfortable because I can trust that much more than I can Smile Direct Club. Their cost is roughly $5,000-$8,000, though.
I have an appointment set in a couple weeks with my dentist to get more information on Invisalign but I know we have some resident dentists here who could shed some light with their professional opinions on both options.
Also, if you've had either one before, please share your experience as well.
TIA

From what I have heard, Invisalign is more precise. Maybe going with Invisalign the first time will keep away any potential headaches from probable frickups from Smile Direct.

I'm in my 40s and my overbite was causing wear on the back side of my upper teeth so the dentist suggested I get that fixed so I didn't wear thru my enamel. I started wearing Invisalign in January, I'm on set 16 of 20. Can't believe how quickly these things have worked to straight everything out and pull my overbite into alignment. Only issue I had is that a few of the trays had sharp edges that rubbed against my tongue, a little zip with my dremel and it was smoothed out.

Exactly what I'm thinking too. I don't want to spend Invisalign money but I definitely don't want to get SMD and then have to get Invisalign down the road anyway. I'm so conflicted.

I did smile direct club last year and while it definitely worked, I think you get what you pay for to be honest. My teeth were pretty straight already so I decided to go with the cheaper option. They are most certainly not invisible and you have to wear them 22 hours a day so be ready to commit. I ran into trouble with the aligners breaking from time to time which was kind of a hassle. The benefit of not having to go to a dentist and much cheaper option was why I chose SDC. Only had to wear them for 4 months so it wasn’t too bad. Just wear retainers at night now.

I had a second round of old school clear braces about 5 years ago after being an idiot and not wearing my retainer when i was younger. Had them on for 2 years...Damon brackets. Go to an orthodontist baw. I think the total for my braces and visits was about $2,500 all in.

This one isn't.
I'd go with Smile Direct. Same business model, you're paying for the in house visits with Invisalign.

I would assume if my teeth aren't so bad already that the length of time required to wear them and the overall cost will be cut short?

If you care enough to get your teeth straightened out, why wouldn't you want closely-monitored treatment and care?
I'm 34 and have had braces on for almost 9 months (total time will be ~2 years and cost was 6k).
I love my orthodontist and her office. She has an amazing reputation and often attends continuing ed events and study clubs. I can contact her 24/7 if I have the slightest issue.
I can only imagine what kind of dentists/orthodontists go work for tele-dentistry.

tele-dentistry
Telemedicine has been around a long time and is a proven alternative to in house visits. With camera quality these days, along with other forms of reviewing a patient's progress, it's a very reasonable solution for many people.

Good luck with your tele-grill.
