I am in the middle of haggling with my materials budget with the contractor right now and he wants to charge me $34/ft for Schulter metal trim that will be used for the tile in the bathroom. I think he is out of his mind. What is the typical price for this stuff?

Does that include his labor cost? Sometimes, a job can be too small, or a pain in the arse, and warrants a premium fee.

There are a lot of variants of it. Some as high as $60 and some as low as $10.

You should be checking your white privilege when spending that kind of money on bathroom trim.

Is that an installed price or just the material? If it includes the labor it's not that bad, kind of high but not that bad, especially if y'all went with a special schluter profile or special finish and not one of the ones you can grab from Home Depot.

How many feet is he doing? If its just a few feet of trim in a couple of small places, its not an unreasonable price. If its 50+ feet, its a little pricey.

Just material. Part of a complete kitchen and bathroom gut. Only need 26 linear feet

I just paid $800 for 32 LF. But I am a GC and do tons of work with this sub. $34/LF is about right. Schulter is expensive, but it holds up and looks nice.

Seems really high to me. Is that just the itemized material cost? I would suggest looking at Home Depot or something online for the exact same thing and tell him that he's off quite a bit on the price

Why is this crap so expensive? Is there a cheaper option for metal trim?

It is itemized. I think I found it on HD's website, but I am not sure if it is the same thing.

Why not buy it yourself and have them install it?

Contractors generally hate doing that shite because they can't sneak in a buck or two on the cost to you per item.

This. Some of the material costs I am fine with, but some are OOC. Contractor wants to charge me $277 for 20 double electrical wall plates. Out of his mind.

Jesus last time I bought some at Home Depot they were like 1.25 a piece unless you're getting some type of super fancy shite.
