Have been having some allergy issues and it's been worse than normal. Seems that it started about the time we rescued this little dog.
Dog is awesome so I had a blood test for dog dander. Came back negative.
Had a skin test for a bunch of shite. Got some hits on dust mites (were removing the bedroom carpet anyway) and other trees and shite from the northeast...
BUT I tested positive for dog allergy.
So what's the deal. The little testing lady wasn't sure and told me to follow up with the doc and I will. Does anyone have experience? How bad can an allergy be if the blood is negative and skin (which they say is more sensitive) really be?
We did leave for a trip for three days and it seemed somewhat better.
Taking meds in the meantime.
Thanks.
(I guess it could be AIDS. That did cross my mind)

how did you feel once you took the dog out of the equation ...?

Either buy stock in Zyrtec or ditch the dog.
Not sure what advice you're looking for here...

We rescued a dog last year.
I wish I was allergic.
Pain in the arse.

Whether or no the dog is the equation. Has anyone dealt with allergy testing blood vs skin prick test.
We are looking to re-home the dog now. Just hate to unload her and that not be the issue. Being away for 3 days was inconclusive.
I've never really dealt with allergies. No more than the next person ..

A) I don't think you know what an equation is.

I have a dog allergy. We don't have a dog right now but we do take care of sick dogs for the local animal shelter.
Anyway, I do nasal irrigation and take allergy pills. It makes a big difference.

lol...OP also is miserable since getting a dog and had a test to confirm the cause, yet is here looking for better advice

This is pretty simple: blood tests for allergies aren't as sensitive as patch tests are. If you had a positive patch test for dog allergy, you are in fact allergic to the dog. Start zyrtec, xyzal, loratidine, or fexofenadine every morning. Stay away from the anticholinergic antihistamines as some studies are showing they can be related to early dementia.

Keep the dog, get rid of OP

Pretty sure it’s the dog.

I love dogs, but the day one requires me to take meds is the day the dog leaves.

The wife is poisoning you for falling in lust with the dog.

Is this your first go around with a dog in your life?

You should get one of those over the counter DIY allergy tests to see what else you are allergic to. People love being told about obscure food/environmental allergies that you’ve recently discovered.
My favorite is people who have recently found they are allergic to corn, yet eat all sorts of shite that contains or is cooked in a corn product.

The allergy is because you drank formula as a baby

You're rehoming your fur baby? Would you give a human baby up for adoption if you were allergic to people dander?

Second. Last one I was on immunosuppressant drugs for so long I didn't have an immune system... Therefore no allergy response.
Far as I care the dog can go. Kids and wife like her but they are ok with her leaving.
What I don't want to have is a knee jerk reaction to shitcanning her. She doesn't bark. Sleeps in kennel. Let's us know to take her out. She also can be let out while I'm working and roam the area and not leave.
Best dog I've been around ever.
Just making sure I covered all my bases before we unload her.
Thanks
