Metro, under the helm of Jimmie Woods and his brother Glenn, renewed the city contract in 2017 with then-mayor Mitch Landrieu.

I wonder the $$$ in kick backs Mitch is getting from the Woods brothers.

Yep. Seems like Metro has milked the contract for all is is worth and are shutting it down.

They no longer care.

dont see why the city wont give them some trustees from OPP to pick up the trash.....have a sheriff van follow the garbage truck to make sure they dont escape.

When I lived on Orleans they would occasionally have the people given community service going along the neutral ground picking up trash. I’m sure that program was cut due to covid or something stupid

Allow me to qualify my statement. Once the storm debris removal was well in hand, trash collection in Jefferson Parish hasn't skipped a beat. Before the hurricane - years and years before - my trash has consistently been collected twice a week.

Why is it that Jefferson Parish can make this work, yet Orleans is in a constant state of upheaval and panic when it comes to basic services?

Because you get too much of your info from Tigerdroppings.

I haven't had issues with trash collection in Orleans Parish before nor after Ida.

I had power, sewer and water back days ahead of my counterparts in Kenner and Metry.

I had no issues with my trash pick up before Ida, but I also have Richard's servicing my area. Every now and then I would see a Ramelli truck on my route.
Post Ida has been at least once a week pick up.

My dad lives outside the city, but listens to WWL pretty much daily. He was convinced that all the streets were lined with heaps of trash and that no one was getting their trash picked up.

Will debris be picked up on magazine street? For an area that is dependent on shopping and tourism, it’s an embarrassment.

Welcome to New Orleans - you seem to be a new resident!

The politicians give zero F’s about residents; in fact, they have disdain for many of you. You didn’t vote for them, you’re not able to vote them out, and your complaining is a distraction from their grifting schemes. On top of that, outraged residents are outnumbered by residents who shrug and say how unique N.O. is and you can leave if you don’t understand her charm.

Likewise, the politicians don’t care what tourists think either. They think of the tourists’ experience as one big “I bet I know where you got dem shoes” scam. Tourists accept things like the trash on Magazine because “they just had a hurricane - I need to show sympathy.” What are tourists going to do; let the cat out of the bag that the Quarter smells like vomit, piss, and rotting hurricane mix??? Tourists expect it. Politicians just want the tourists to leave their money behind and go home - there are plenty of new tourists to take their place.

Sounds like a poster not from here who knows more about the city than a person who has all 8 great grandparents born here.

What about liquid waste? What about tran's or gay waste? Is that waste just too stinky a topic for them to address?
