Orange County Deputy motorcycle officer died also. He was responding to this bullshite and a guy with a green light pulled out in front of him.

I hope Markeith suffers before SWAT turns him into a sponge.

Scratch that. Looks like Markeith is due to assume room temperature any minute now.

Anyone know which channel on any of the police scanner apps we can listen to this on?

Call me a sissy I don't care, and I am confident I have more experience with guns than the average patrol officer but no way I'm approaching a suspect wanted for murder on my own. Why not un holster your weapon while waiting for back up to approach the suspect? Very unfortunate situation.

Dude, chill out. We don't know what the officer knew or didn't know and all of the details yet. She may not have known he was wanted for murder and it sound like he came out if the store at her not the other way around.

The fugitive has been on the run for a few weeks. He is a well known criminal in the area. I would not speculate what went down but, Wal Marts have very detailed video surveillance systems so it will be well documented. He probably got the drop on her.

THIS is how we know and remember Sergeant Debra Clayton. She always had a smile for kids and always took a moment to interact w/community.

Ha ok. I was speaking to the report that a customer recognized the perp and told the officer. Given that report, how would you suspect it went down? There's pretty much two ways that I see it, she calls for back up and waits or she tries to arrest the perp on her own.

My point was simply that we can't expect single police officers to try and be heroes, they have families too. Often times it best to wait until you have overwhelming support to try and arrest someone.

She actually had a legal responsibility to arrest him on the spot. loyd is a fugitive from murdering his pregnant girlfriend a few weeks ago. She had to do her job right there as she could not allow him to leave the scene while waiting for backup to arrive. It cost her life.

She should not be second guessed out of respect for her sacrifice. She died a hero while doing her job.

As it should be. Hope he goes out with a little pain. He doesn't need to be given any leeway here.

The area of Orlando that he's hiding in is very sympathetic to him. I'm sure he's getting help evading the police. Rosemont is the worst area of the highest crime area of Central Florida. It's really bad in that area.

ETA: A SWAT team is geared up and going into a three story apartment building now. I've been in these buildings many times and they are full of thugs. Most people living in this area have criminal backgrounds.

I hope and pray that they are right and he is really in there and not out on the street where he can cause more terror and mayhem.

I suspect they are going to do a door to door search for him. They have probably had to obtain a search warrant for the entire complex. Probably why they have delayed for several hours.
