Does anybody have any experience with this? I am looking at Ram 2500s and everything is either bare bones or loaded out. I am looking for a mid range SLT model with a few options and can't seem to find anything. I am interested in if the dealers will still offer dealer cash and incentives if I order custom

TIA

I did it with 1 car. Dont expect many deals when you are ordering custom from the factory.

I would imagine with a common truck like that they should be able to find you one somewhere

Just sent back a Bugatti with the wrong rims. Oh well, maybe they’ll get it right this time.

Tell the dealer to find one somewhere for you. It exists, trust me.

Just ordered the Ford Cobra Jet Saturday.

No Incentives just paid what they asked. If you need those you just may want to purchase another way.

SLT is pretty bare bones these days. Big Horn is pretty much the mid range model.

My truck was supposed to be an order and i waited a long time for it and kept getting the run around about it being delayed. I ended up finding the truck I wanted at another dealer but they wouldnt give me the price I wanted but I had another dealer do a trade and I got my price.

I dont trust that they ever really had that other truck on order.

I do t want a lot of bells and whistles, just cloth, 4x4, upgraded wheels, chrome package, navigation system, tow hooks, backup alarm and a few others. I built my truck on the website but can't find anything like it at dealers. My trucks msrp after I configured was $46k but everything on dealer lots has more options and is 5-6k more. They order packages and try to upsell

I know Ford will let you build out your vehicle online and select all the options you want, then it’ll search dealer inventory to show you similar matches within certain distance from you. Does Dodge website have a similar feature?

There won't be. They are trying to get rid of the cars and trucks they already have.

Do like someone upthread said and have the dealer find one like you want. But you still shouldn't expect much in the way of cash and dealer incentives because of the bolded statement above.

If ordering Chrysler family, donate $100 to Treadlightly and get Chrysler affiliate pricing. 1% below invoice (not sticker) guaranteed. Can do better with some dealers. Easy way to special order and get good price.

I have factory ordered my last 2 cars to get what I wanted.

Any dealer will do a factory order for you, it is actually cheaper for them to do it. Factory ordered cars will not sit on the lot, so it works out great for them.

If you want a deal on the factory order, try to find a volume dealer. These dealers try to sell a ton of cars/trucks to get factory kickbacks. They are usually willing to sell at invoice or below.

If you want to keep it simple, signup with Tread Lightly for $100. A month after signup you should be eligible for the FCA Affiliate program and that means you can buy and FCA car/truck for %1 under invoice.

You will pay a premium for it.

It would be cheaper for you to scour dealership websites and find a similar truck, then travel to that dealerahip.

Ordering a vehicle saves dealers the insurance, lot fees and other costs involved with having a car sit in inventory. If you're a decent negotiator you should get as good or better deal than what's on the lot.

You do get every incentive that is available when the car arrives. Do not expect to have what's available today if your car will be here in six weeks. That is part of the gamble, though some dealers will be willing to pull strings if it doesn't cut their end of the deal, i.e. factory to buyer incentives that you might not exactly be eligible for.

At the very least, you know what the vehicle costs and you're getting EXACTLY what you want. Sometimes, that costs more than just buying the boring shite off the lot simply because of the options you've chosen.

You will not. Every vehicle off the assembly line with the option set you choose will have an identical invoice price. The factory doesn't care why a dealership is ordering that car and doesn't add some sort of premium to the price the dealer pays for that car.

If you pay a premium because it was a custom order, it's because you believed the salescritter's bullshite.
