You received a lot of downvotes from the cult, but from what I've seen her homes are not near Lahaina. I don't know exactly where her 1000 acres are located. Central Park is around 850 acres in comparison. I don't like Oprah, but I highly doubt she would murder and burn down the most historic town in Hawaii just to have the land to herself. Her current homes are very remote. I don't see her building a home 5 miles from Kaanapali with all the resorts and regular people they have visiting them.

Teachers had already reported back to school to prepare for it starting. That doesnt mean kids were sent home from school on busses that mysteriously disappeared as this rumor claims.
I'm claiming none of that. All I am telling you is what was relayed by officials and reported by media outlets.

You can build Air B&Bs though.

I directly refuted the claim that students were sent home from school early and are missing
Did the media report kids being sent home from school? You are talking about kids being left home alone. That is something completely different.

I don't see her buying the land to add more commoners. She would only burn it to get rid of them.

Yes. Did you not read what I wrote?

You wrote.

Maybe, but it has been widely reported that many kids were home from school alone because power had been cut to multiple schools.
That doesn't mean they were sent home on busses. Maybe they had parents that worked at the school or a number of other things.
Hell some kids stay at home during the summer while their parents are at work.

Lahaina School Calender
Students first day wasn't scheduled until August 9th. The wildfires happened on the 8th.
Quit spreading lies you read on tiktok without checking them for accuracy
Well here is a link showing that 4 schools were in fact open and had to be closed due to the high winds and storm on 8/8.
Maui Star Advisor: Storms Close Schools (8/8/2023)
The four schools were:
-Princess Nahi‘ena‘ena Elementary
-King Kamehameha III Elementary
-Lahaina Intermediate
-Lahainaluna High School
As you mentioned some of the schools were still out for the summer, but those four were open and children were at the schools either in full or there were other programs ongoing which required students to be sent home during the day.

I linked the calender to Lahaina high school and saw the calender for Lahaina middle school. The schools were OPEN but students first day was not until August 9th.
The schools were open because teachers had to work and there was supposed to be an orientation for new students and their parents later in the day.
Lahaina High School. August 9th First Day for Students
Lahaina Intermediate School. August 8th Teacher Waiver Day (No Students)
Also August 9th First Day for Students.
King Kamehameha First Day August 9th
You are being mislead.

Multiple MSM sources have reported that children were sent home that day from school or day care.
First hand reports from children and families on tiktok, youtube and other platforms report that children were sent home that day.
I wasn't there, but given the people involved saying they were sent home and that there were unattended children at home left to fend for themselves I'm going to go with that over your school calendar.

Well they were lying (probably to generate outrage). I just pulled up 3 of the 4 that other poster listed and they all confirmed students first day August 9th

Voila! You got it.
I live here and honestly this is spot on. Add nepotism and you've got it.
However, I've lived in NOLA and CA and I thought the same there as well.
Regarding Harpo, I hadn't seen any of this stuff so I may go down the rabbit hole, but I'm not sure it's anything more than a perfect storm of bad things. HECO/MECO definitely share the most blame as the powerlines have been issues with the strong winds for a while. There was a report as recently as 2021 calling this very thing out. There was a warning until the night of Aug 8th that this could happen and the morons didn't listen. This is a failure on their part and a big surprise, the govt. Annoyingly, everyone here just says "the climate change..." No, it was a bad mixture of everything that could go wrong, but wind and dry grass have always been around.

Per the Department of Education we are both right. High school classes started on the 8th, middle and elementary on the 9th. I don't know if they had any combined schools, and if so, how they worked.
Posted on 9/1/23 at 12:47 pm to LegendInMyMind
Im unsure how many are still unaccounted for exactly but the number does seem to have shrank recently. It is just frustrating seeing tiktok rumors spread like wildfire. I was able to find the schedule for Princess Nahi‘ena‘ena Elementary and their first day was the 8th so maybe the videos people saw were students of that school.

So the first hand videos from children who say they were sent home or had siblings sent home and had to flee from the fire without parents were lying? Really?
You realize that "sent home" includes day cares, summer school, summer camps, etc?
I'm not sure why you are so dug in on this in the face of other evidence?
Do you not believe that there were a lot of children in their homes without parents to help when the fires hit or are you just fighting it out about actual classes in many schools not being in session?
