Do you feel the differences in IQ among races is more due to genetics or more a factor of environment?

I did a persuasive speech on this in 1996 for spch1061.

Was just a 4 minute babble about how you can't assume shite about a particular race's intelligence based on that study.
Intro to speech, dude.
Nothing had to be proven or debated at length.

I also did a speech on preparing and drinking 32oz of Colt 45 to maximize your Bang for your Buck before going to Tigerland Bars. So yea... I chugged down half a Colt 45 in a Coates Hall classroom during a speech.

Are you assuming that environment cant affect genetics?

Are these people from different races living in the same area and part of the same culture? Are they all given the same IQ test? There are studies that show various IQ tests are biased based on the culture they were designed for.

There are very smart and dumb people of all races.

In a controlled environment I don't believe any race is any smarter than another.

However, brain development that occurs during pregnancy can definitely be affected by poor nutrition and other factors.

Then of course nurture as a child is the biggest factor. No intellectual stimulation, poor nutrition, and lack of exercise as a child.

I believe this is a major factor. It has been shown that those who live in poverty tend to have lower scores regardless of race.

Read the book a long time ago. It was highly controversial and surely there's been new research on the topic.

Everything is determined by genetics...

except for intelligence. Because that's racist.

I wouldn't be so sure. This isn't the kind of research that's really sought after. A lot of academics are scared shitless of this kind of thing.

And for good reason, you could end your career pretty easily if you don't walk the eggshells right.

Well, if there has been, the "students" at Middlebury College in Vermont wouldn't listen to the author discuss it. They ran him out of the building for not adhering to their "groupthink" as bigoted and intolerant.

I saw a news article about this. It is what prompted this thread.
