Lee v Grant in 1982 when the South still had men and supplies would have been a better matchup than 1984 post-Gettysburg Lee. The South was handing the North their arse in Virginia in 82 and 83.
Are you drunk, or just really stupid?

Same could be said about Rommel and Yamamoto.
This is an excellent comparison. Both were brilliant tacticians. Both also believed that their leaders were leading them down the wrong road, but they were men of honor and did their duty. Lee is very similar, however they are generally not vilified.

It would’ve been great because Grant may have actually used all the resources of the Union and dominated the war ending it in 62 or 63 instead of being indecisive and letting the war drag on for 3 more years

The war really should have ended at Antietam in September 1862. Lee blundered in choosing to remain in Maryland to fight a battle and almost got his army annihilated in the process. A slightly more aggressive commander would have sent the Fifth or Sixth Corps (neither of which saw action that day) into the breach after Lee's center collapsed at the Sunken Road.

Agreed bro that’s literally what I was just saying…. McClellan just couldn’t get it done (and couldn’t beat Lincoln for pres in ‘64).
Also is there a more famous picture of someone getting fired?

No, he would have just attacked piecemeal and wrecked his corps against Cemetery Hill.
Ewell himself admitted he moved too slow and you know it. The Union troops were in disarray and a good timely push along with coordinated artillery fire, which Lee had called for and was never delivered, likely pushes the Union from Cemetery Hill
They were running. Hit them hard and quickly and they likely run again most of them were Howard's people and they had run before. Ewell delayed worrying about an attack from the east than was never there, Jackson would have taken the damn hill.
Do that, and there's no Battle of Gettysburg. No Picketts Charge. Perhaps Lee defeats the Army of the Potomac, which is why he invaded Pennsylvania to begin with.
No Grant coming East. No Sherman. No Lincoln re election.

Any of these pre-1900 statues need some sort of historical designation to protect them from being demolished.
They did. We enacted laws to save them in the 90s.
But we were overrun with transplants. And that was that.
